Title: Surgery?
Post by: imogzyboy on October 23, 2012, 06:06:30 AM: Hey I've been told by the army physio and doctor when I went for the medical I'm likely to need surgery on my right ankle it's the soft bit near the ankle/bridge of foot on the outside and to be honest guys I'm bricking it, could anyone shed some light on recovery times? And what actually happens?

Post by: imogzyboy on October 23, 2012, 07:15:58 AM: Reds some people are aware of that situation going extreme wrong she had an abortion and I have nothing to do with her now, hence me being able to go in the army now well until this happened, and yeah it's just me being an idiot google searches it and the first thing I find is someone having to be on crutches for 7 weeks :s couldn't handle that!

Visit a specialist physio and the if anything can be done without surgery. if its not bothering you that much and physio can help you, dont go down the operation route. from personal experiences with knee ops, thats my opinion. good luck

Post by: imogzyboy on October 23, 2012, 08:06:21 AM: To me it's nothing major to feel most days it's always something I can feel there but it's not something that's causing agony it's just the odd day it does, I'm hoping that its just a case of physio as I've never had surgery and touch wood I won't! Haha. Thanks for the advice

Post by: Nickauger on October 23, 2012, 08:25:51 AM: Mate, if you want to go in the Army, and the Army want you to have surgery, then you will need surgery to get you in. Simple as, its a hoop that you will need to jump through. To be honest I'm surprised they're even looking at you if you have that sort of injury, so you must have something they like. It will be on your file now, and I can't see any way around it without ticking that box of surgery.

They've said if I had to end up having the surgery then I'd have to wait 6 months after it :) so I could be looking upto another years wait

back to the point, i had surgery on my wrist and missed the chance to play in the two biggest cricket games of my life ... v W Indies and V England ... it wasnt easy but it was for my own health in the long term.

I have been ok for 5 years but htis year it has started to hurt again now andagian, nothing major but just a niggle but it doesnt look like i have somehting growing in my wrist like it used to. I have never had the same mobility in it once it was operated on but it is 10 times better than pre op.
