Hi guys. Think this is the first new stickered FLC "in the wild" so to speak, as far as I know. Already turned a few heads in the 24 hours it was back with Dan.
Had custom made last year and the production FLC will be pretty much based on this shape. Scored a load of runs with it and has a huge middle; when it was being made as good as new, Dan noticed it had a noticeable compressed "middle" from about an inch up from the toe to almost the bottom of the stickers but virtually no compression at the edges. Can't really get a good photo of that feature. Not sure if that says something about my batting or the bat!
Here's a few pictures. Comes in at 2.10 "nude": 2.14 gripped, labelled and faced. Picks up about 2.7 according to everyone who tries it.

Top first post rob....welcome to the forum!
-
top post
top bat
second ayrteks welcoming :)

Dan didn't want to let it go: he told me he knew it was great when he started working on it! He keeps picking it up and swishing it. Think Pete Hosk is seeing him soon, shame i need it for my ECB Level 1 course on Saturday or would leave it with him.
It really is a special bit of wood.
-
Thanks all for making me feel welcome. Trying to resist a new set of chase softs when they are in.
Saw a really nice thin net bat there today going at a good price
-
Classy labels, prefer these over the black Chase ones all day.
The bat itself looks a beauty perfect grainage
Welcome

Thanks all for making me feel welcome.
Would you like a cup of tea?
Very impressed with Chase, the new softs I saw somewhere looked lovely too, has anyone got a link to that?
-
that's how to make an entrance :)

Looks lovely, and if it picks up that light you have a winner!
Btw, to show the compression in the middle try taking a picture of the bat face from the toe up. And welcome to the forum!

Now the question is: do i figure out how to post the videos i made when i watched it being made?
-
Do bears poo in the woods?
-
Typical poor quality from chase
-
If Carlsberg made first post's......
-
Looks a beauty, looks like very aggressive concaving on that spine. Love it
-
Typical poor quality from chase
I'd give him a couple of bottles of lambrusco for it... ;)
In all seriousness, that is a lovely looking bat. I have definite willow envy again. This and that Tempo have overloaded my senses! :D

Ok,, whilst i am uploading the videos, here's two photos of the original cleft just after been handled and pressed

And yep, off to see Dan tomorrow 8)

Top looking bat rob
Welcome
Pete pass on my regards tell him to sorta cleft out for me similar to this one if he has any
-
The question is whether you leave with wallet intact! Thank god he didn't have a set of softs ready for me.
-
Having had a Salix Fera prior to this, and a temporary Puma Iridium 5000 as a stop gap, I've three crackers in a row. But this is a league above as its just got so much wood without the weight.
It was a Fearnley VR 5star and a Magnum harrow before that. Had a ten year lay off in between so big gap in my bat history.
-
I will let him know Dave!
And Dan does make some excellent bats! I like his mentality and he is always thinking about new and fresh ideas! 8)

Wow, that drawknife looks REALLY sharp in vid 2 where he is shaping the handle. One mistake and you could end up with a big gouge! Nice hands by Dan!
So these vids are from last year when you got the bat made originally?
-
Skipper J. That's correct. It was custom made at the start of 2012 season so netted with and played full season. Dan just made as good as new: sand, polish and new stickers. Had a Tiny splinter out mid season which I glued back and got resanded flush. Luckily I found it on the pitch and kept it.
Amazing thing is that I just can't seem to level out the face towards the edges. It's compressed into a lovely middle but didn't compress nearer the edges. Must be middling lots of balls! Even tried a mallet to even out. Don't think it has any negative performance but would be lovely to get even more middle out of it.
-
Great video and should put to bed the harmful rumours spread on here about Chase not making bats!
-
Not quite a FLC, but I thought I'd share a few photos of my R11 which I had custom made last month. It's a 2.11 lancer/finback hybrid that picks up like one of my 2.8 bats. Adam and Dan were great and ensured I had a wonderful afternoon out.

Their attention to detail at Chase is excellent!
Very nice bat there! 8)
-
Thank you.
They really take their time to make sure the customer is satisfied and as you said pay attention to the details. Happy with what I got!
-
sfa82 that is a lovely bat, if you don't mind me asking what price are we looking at? That profile looks lovely to me!
-
It was actually a gift from my wife who arranged the whole trip to Chase cricket. I believe it cost an additional 10% of the selling price of the bat for a custom one and going to the workshop. So £270 + 10% for an R11.
-
Beautiful willow that is. Chase sure is making us sit up and take notice!

Many thanks for your prompt reply :)
That is indeed a cracking price for a stunning bat.
Chase continue to impress me
-
Very impressive!
-
That's correct. My FLC was 10% on top. Think Dan's working on the new price list now.
-
I saw Dan at a local show recently and got my son a size 5 FLC (which is not a usual size so I had to wait a week or so). It is a lovely bat, a lot of wood and still only just over 2lb (even has his initials on the shoulder). It should last 2 seasons so is a good investment. A sticker on the bat says it is "80% prepared", do I just need to do a bit of light mallet work on the face and keep him to soft net balls for a while?
-
don't bother with "light mallet work" spend half an hour smashing (thumping really hard!) it with the mallet then it will be good to go with some soft balls... don't forget to roll the edges with a rolling pin or on the bath tub too

Did you buy it at the Serious Cricket open day they did? I heard it was very well attended? One of the guys said they sold a lot of bats.
As for knocking in, what Buzz said!
I have a Chase myself, great bats.....got another on it's way as well, you've started your son off very well!
-
(Spoken in Alec Guinesses' voice)......That's not the Chase for you........You want to lend it to Fattus.

Well, if my next one is as nice as my current one then I'm sure we might be able to arrange something Fattus!
-
Thanks for the replies, I'll get the mallet going (and the rolling pin!). We got it at a Cook and Matthews show at Orpington CC. He is in his 3rd season with a size 4 Chase 175 Beluga (which is starting to look a bit small) so is hooked on Chase willow already. Happy for Dan to sponsor him!
-
Great stickers and looks a decent bat!!
