yesterday JP duminy had his Achilles reconstructed.
tomorrow I am having mine done.
so first question, has anyone else had theirs done?
it sounds grim, I am having a tendon in my leg/foot shortened. then having the excess screwed into my heel and attached to the calf muscle.
so two lots of keyhole surgery, followed by two weeks in a cast and then 8 weeks in a boot.
grim.
no sport for up to six months. boo hiss.
-
Absolutely gutted for you buzz, once the air boot is on life gets a little easier and less obstructive. The best recovery is always the most patient.
Hope you recover quickly and fully fella.
-
Not had Achilles done but had both knees reconstructed after snapping cruciate ligaments, taking a part of patella tendon and screwing it back to where ACL should be...twice.
Follow physios advice and do extra if u can as the muscle wears away fast even in the 2 weeks in plaster.
Hope it all goes well mate, enjoy the morphine!!

Ahh, not good, hope the op is successful.
A girl I play in a mixed hockey team with had this op last December. She was in a raised boot for quite a while, about 3 months from memory but was able to do gentle exercise over the summer although she was advised not to start hockey training again until last week.
-
sounds about right. I hope she is ok to play again. going to be off work for a chunk of the test series so not all bad.
-
Nothing you couldn't do yourself with a staplegun and a bottle of single malt...
In all seriousness, good luck with the op and hope you're up and terrorising AOC's vaunted bowling attack some time next summer!
-
Sounds like a great opportunity to make some money knocking other people's bats in while you can't walk...
-
you are right, I could get my 3 year old going with the mallet to finish it off!
it would stop him hammering my walls.

She got through her first training session okay, just has to be careful not to over do things.
Being off for the Test series is some consolation I guess :)

How did you ping it in the first place?

standing at slip is a dangerous business!
-
That's why I specialise at cover-point. Never pinged a thing there!
-
Nasty mate, hope it works out ok for you - I'm sure it will all be fine.
-
thanks, it is about professor Nicola Maffulli!
should be fine.
-
just in case anyone is wondering, having a hole drilled into your foot is relatively painful!
I'm the upside the Dr, after the op, was more interested in talking to my 7 week old daughter than me, so it must have gone ok.
-
Pictures of the foot! Pictures of the foot!
-
I will ask the surgeon for his pictures, that will be nice a juicy.
-
If anyone wants to see a picture of knee cartilage when I tore it, then I can get that put up on here! :)
-
Glad it all went well sir buzzalot, hope the recovery is a speedy one and pain free
-
Sounds like it went well Buzz, good stuff, fingers crossed for a fast recovery!
Good luck with the 7 week old too, congratulations!
