First net of the winter last night and 24 hours on I'm feeling the onset of the usual muscle aches and pains that come from a little more than an hour of being one of three bowlers in the net.
How do you get over it?
-
A lot of beer!
It's always the day after the day after for me.
-
Bowling machine.....

Stretch properly. Hot bath. Went last night an my body aches, but not as much as it would if i didn't stretch when i got home!
-
I tend to find that the bit that hurts the most is the intercostal muscles. The rest I can stretch effectively but not those...
-
That's the reason for a hot bath...
-
You must have a very large bath....
-
I can get access to one when I need it...
-
honestly apart from the obvious (proper cool down & stretch) I dont think there is a quick fix or cheat that will make a big difference. Apart from a lot of cricket specific gym and core work.

only time i strugle in the nets is 1st few nets back with the bowling machine as its constant balls every few seconds
but i play indoor cricket so never really have a break which i feel is good
-
Batting I'd agree. Bowling at Indoor is a totally different beast as the ball is about half the weight and you bowl two overs, so when you get back into real ball nets, you're bowling about 8-12 overs with a proper ball... It's hugely different.

yeah i guess tim im not a bowler so i wouldnt know lol
i get what u mean tho cos the 1st game back when am keeping for 46 overs my legs hurt 1st game back for a few days after

Do something which gets your heart rate up and you breathing heavily. I tend to go by the rule that if a muscle hurts because you haven't used it like that for a while, keep using it! If your shoulders are hurting, just do warm up exercises and also some push ups. The first nets are always the worst, but my winter training essentially starts at the end of September because of university indoor nets, so it isn't too bad as it's just a short break from the end of season! Of course, if it's an injury, that's a completely different story! :P
