Title: Bat resonance and cracks
Post by: Cowcorner on November 18, 2012, 09:45:20 PM
Thought I'd canvas a bit of opinion - I did a medium fast net today and my (well knocked in) kookaburra kahuna 800 has yielded an edge compression, a thick edge crack and on some shots gave me some awful resonance through the handle to the extent that I had some momentary pain in my hands. Obviously edge cracks are the nature of the beast but it was the combination of the cracks and the resonance that made me wonder if there was something up with the willow??? Any thoughts?

Could have been the balls the bowlers were using! If they were using bat breakers, or a really hard new ball, it can feel a little jarring to the hands when playing a shot. I always have to check the ball when I play a shot near the middle and feel any sort of big vibration!

All the balls were relatively old - there wasn't a new ball in the lot!

Ah right, that's kind of odd! Is the Kahuna pretty old? Maybe it was an off day and you were mis-timing everything. :D That's probably the best case scenario! :P

She's a 2011 model, the damage occurred on defensive shots.....all perfectly timed of course  ;)
