Title: Customised kit attempts (fails and succeedings)
Post by: toenails97 on November 20, 2012, 07:55:51 AM
Just thought it would be cool to have a thread were people can post pics of the customised attempts or seek help of the forum. This could be pictures of having a go at re shaping an old bat, removing logos of pads, cutting down straps...... And to maybe ask questions about doing so in here.
Cheers
Tony

Just a few attempts at modifying existing kit .I have a SG thigh pad which is my lucky thigh pad but the bottom straps kept on sliding down, so I made a loop through which the strap can go in. The thigh pad was also a bit big so it cut it to the required shape and slid back into the cloth cover. I also managed to incorporate a piece of HD foam removed from another inner thigh guard by gluing it on after removing some of the low density foam.

The loop

You can see the outline of the HD foam.

Another attempt was to shape a Kookaburra inner thigh pad as it was a slightly big in size. The HD foam was removed through a slit at the bottom and cut to size and slid back . The excess clothing was cut off and stitched back. I had the help of my mother in law and wife with stitching.

Not long as I thought it would , the idea is to be comfortable at the crease and every little adjustment helps. I am finicky about the fit as I never find anything that fits perfect and buying online doesn't help.

Another attempt to bleach a bat using carpet stain remover.
Before

After

The performance wasn't affected at all.

I sprayed vanish oxi action carpet stain remover liberally on and wiped off the excess lightly and left it for 24 hours or so. There was a bit of powdery leftover next day , gave it some fine sanding to get rid of it.

I've customised my kit bag to have a hard bat cave, and my strippers have a box attachment that works pretty well - I think I've put photo's on here before
