Title: Matching Puma Kit Query?
Post by: joeljonno on November 23, 2012, 01:40:50 PM
Hi all

Firstly, this is my first post, so hello to everyone.  I am the secretary of Heworth CC in York and am currently teaching myself how to repair and refurbish cricket bats.

I bought a brand new pair of Iridium 6000 pads last year as they were cheap and intended to get the gloves to match.  I did not realise Iridiums were no longer being produced. Ironically/co-incidentally, in a twitter competition I won a Puma Bionic 6000 from a shop in Leeds.

The only gloves I seem to find for to match the Iridium pads at a decent price are the oversize mens (which I presume would be a tad big). I can get a pair of Bionic gloves for £40. My question is, do I get a pair of Iridium gloves to match the pads or the Bionic gloves to match the bat???

Which do you prefer?  Thats got to be the main question!

How are things at Heworth anyway - played there a few times years ago!

Whichever Puma gloves you end up with will be great. Puma arguably make the best softs of all the 'big brands'. Personally I would go with gloves to match pads as, if you stay here long enough, you'll end up with a dozen different bats anyway!  ;)

You can still get the iridium 5000 gloves off eBay for around £30, I've nearly bought ten myself.

Sodding iphone, should have said them rather than ten. Ten pairs of the same set of gloves would be a bit much even for someone on here.

10 pairs of the same gloves would be ridiculus...

10 pairs of different gloves, that would be fine

I would usually go with gloves to match the bat, but not all the time. The Bionic gloves colour scheme will look better with the bat rather than iridiums...

Thanks cheese, if I go with matching the bat and it breaks, they won't match anything.

Thanks gdb19 - those are the Iridiums I mentioned, but I can only find them in oversize mens and without being able to try them on I don't know how big they are.

Thanks Manormanic, I haven't been able to try the Iridiums but have tried the Bionics and they are sweet! i have also tried the Karbon 4000 and the Calibre 5000, which I think the Iridiums will be similar. They're all good.  Heworth's ok, we have had a bad season or two but back on the upward slope again.  Got lots of fundraising stuff going on and upgraded the clubhouse greatly so it's very positive at the moment.  Who did you play for (or should I not ask that on the board and PM you instead)?
