Title: Visit to Gray-Nicolls
Post by: ItsJustCricket on November 26, 2012, 05:40:56 PM
Not sure how many of you have been to Robertsbridge before, but I was struck by how quiet and unassuming a place it is - a few innocuous barns in the middle of nowhere houses arguably the most popular cricket brand on the planet.  They still make some bats there too:

As many of you are aware, we were there to hand pick our pre-Christmas bat stock, including several Dynadrives that have been pre-ordered by various CBF members.  I will leave these people in suspense for now, and show you some photos of some of the other bats we chose:

A 2.8 e41 500 here.  The edges were ridiculously large for a 2.8 bat and it was sounding incredible off the mallet...

The Maverick Players willow was looking very nice, and here is a 2.9 (left) and a 2.10 (right).  Very, very concave these - like a ski slope but looked and sounded great.

A 2.11 Scoop.  Chose not to get the scuff sheet for this one...

And here's our complete trolley, including all of the aforementioned Dynadrives (many of which are lurking in the background out of sight - the suspense will continue haha)  :D

I didn't get quite as carried away as Asad did, but still left with a few more bats than I was originally planning to! Inevitable, I guess!  :) We also got 3 x Oblivions (1 x Players and 2 x 5 Star), a Maverick 4 Star, a Maverick 5 Star and 3 other Dynadrives (in addition to the ones that have already been pre-ordered).  All of these bats should land in our shop by the end of the week...

No, the LE is, but we didn't order anything in that grade as it's very, very expensive!

No, but they've put the price up to £600 RRP, which is as good as dropping it in my opinion! Certainly won't be stocking that!

Haha.  My nitro extreme from a few seasons ago is starting to show it's age, but it still flies.  Next on my list to refurb, although it hasn't really had a look in last season and may not get a look this season...  The maverick does look pretty tasty though, as does the e41, and the dynadrive... Oh, who am I kidding, I want them all!

That's a crying shame.  Although it may be possible they sent a duff one?

the GN range looks amazing.. saw the e41 2 years back, an Aussie friend brought it from Oz. glad they have released it here in the UK too.

To be honest, there were a few Dynadrives that weren't tapping up that well, but of course, we didn't pick any of those!  :) I was also surprised by how heavy they were coming out - not that many at all under 2.11...

That's because Asad grabbed all the lighter ones ;)

I still don't see what would make the dyna go well...... Massive hole where the middle of the bat should be..... I'm sure the pick up would be light, but is there any theory to suggest less wood in the middle of the bat is anything but a bad thing?

I think you are thinking of the Scoop... Dynadrive has a spine, not a hole...
