There's room for profit on those prices for the seller, but not much at all.

they seem incredibly cheap for the kookaburra stuff especially - but it depends where the items are coming from. I got a feeling from the way the site is set-up and the way they talk about shipping, that the items are shipped from india and it their information it says that the buyer must pay all import taxes. But then agan i could be wrong, i know for a fact that kook gear is much cheaper out in india and pakistan so these kind of prices don't suprise me.

I agree with both Tom and Shilly.

The seller may keep a good mark-up on the shipping. I think with the shipping and VAT the price may not be very significantly lower than the UK prices. Even with £10-£20 difference, I would prefer to buy from the UK stockist - just in case I need to exchange or get a refund/replacement.

Shilly, agree that the Kookaburra gear looks good for the price. £85 for their top pads and gloves inc P+P is a steal.

the more i think about the more i am certain that they will hit you with the import taxes - as im not sure what happens if you dont pay these taxes, does the item get sent back to the seller? Because i can imagine there may be a few buyers who think they may get some items cheaply and end up doubling the amount spent and decide not to pay these taxes. Who's going to be the first to order the kook gear......i vote yash

At worst I can see it only being 15% VAT plus the DHL handling fee which is usually a couple of quid.

If you do not pay the tax, which is normally paid by the courier company they can serve you a legal notice which will affect your credit rating (and if I am not wrong for those under 18 and having used a add-on card from either of their parents account, the credit rating od the parents.)

You will end up paying the tax component no matter what. If you love getting into trouble or thrive on being pushed to the wall wait till you get the legal notice.

(the above is from the experience of one of my friends acquaintance who's son ordered stuff from OZ and kept destroying the reminder letters/invoices from TNT only for his father to be summoned in a local court for willfully choosing not to pay the amount due to TNT. He lost his credit card with Barclays and his re-mortgage application with 4 lenders was turned down because of this)

I get my Kook gear for cheap in the UK. But did not like it for some reason. The Kook beast bat I have is a UK Sample which means it is top notch stuff not something I am comfortable with. The profile is excellent and the pick-up and ping awesome, but not for me.

Similarly with my RP Kahuna Gloves and Pads.

This is what tom mentions - the 15% VAT is essentially the import and fumigation tax which is added to the price when the item is delivered -  this essentially is the cost of importing items from abroad. So not too much, and worth buying if you are genunely interested in getting the items
