Title: New CA Pro 20/20 (bought on behalf of a friend)
Post by: AtBalfour on June 10, 2008, 07:46:14 PM
This bat was bought by me on behalf of a friend, but I will give a quick review! I know I will be asked the question, "Is there any need for a new topic?", the answer is yes...

CA Pro 20/20
Weight: 2lbs,8ozs / 2lbs,9ozs
Edge thickness: 33mm
Spine height: 64mm
Grains: 11 (even though there appears to be less in the photo)
Price: 82 inc delivery

Bought from:

Armughan (Armie). Excellent service, 10/10 for prompt delivery and efficient communications as always! The bat was delivered from Pakistan in 4 days..

Ping:

Seems nice, hard to tell with a mallet though. I have noticed that the middle is faily high for an Asian bat, improving pickup.

Size:
Pretty huge edges and spine! Probably the thickest bat I have seen! This bat goes against the theory that Asian bats are all edge and have no substancial middles!

Pictures?

Edges are a big size and the bat looks good. Like the stickers, it's amazing how the pink craze has caught on everywhere.

Forgot to ask what grade willow is it?

Yes, looks great for 82 quid.  The edges and spine are massive for a 2/8 or 2/9.  And 4 days from Pakistan....Brill!

Yes Chris...

Dimensions are:

~Standard Blade
~3cm shorther handle
~Much thicker blade, all the way down
~ Higher middle for better balance supposedly..

I'm surprised that the blade is the same size, are all 20/20 bats similar?

I'm sure the Uzi has a longer blade, shorter handle?

I thought the idea was to have a longer handle and shorter blade?

I think that is the usual trend, I was surprised at this one, as it has a shorter handle and a similar length blade.

Thats what confuses me, the idea being shorter blade means more meat can be left around the striking area without affecting the overall weight of the bat.

Are you sure it is not a harrow size bat?

Yeah, so CA are chucking at junior length bats at adult prices?  :-\

Fine but:

Overall length of a Harrow is: 82.5cm
Super Short:  83.8cm
Short Handle:  85.1cm

So if the length is: Handle + Blade  and AtBalour says:  "a shorter handle [3cm] and a similar length blade."

Then it will be more harrow size as it is effectively 3cm shorter overall then a SH mens

just re-measured and the blade is 1 cm longer, the handle is defo 3 cm shorter.

maybe its a new formula CA are using for their t20 bats?

it MIGHT be classified as a harrow, but weight wise u would have to be a big boy to pick it up!

Maybe a new formula but it doesn't make sense, I can't see any benefits!!!!!

1cm on the blade is effectively a long blade

With a handle length something in between a Size 5 and Size 6 bat

Well I'm real confused!

The Uzi that I have just got is shorter blade, longer handle. The CA2020 I got, in the same style as adam's was shorter blade, longer handle.

I don't see any advantage in a 2020 bat having a longer blade and shorter handle - no extra leverage, more weight and less meat, plus poorly distributed?

Seems odd to me.

Hi, I am using the CA 10000 plus which I personally bought from Karachi 2 Years ago. I would be highly interested in finding out where youcan make the purchase from Pakistan as you mentioned it arrived in just 4 days

As there arent many authorised CA retailers in the UK, it will be very helpful

Regards

You can get some top quality AS, AM, Malik and CA bats from Asad Qureshi of AS Sports. assports.co.uk

He was recently in Pakistan and has got a good number of bats made.

In fact he has a one awesome looking CA 10000 plus left 9out of the 2 he got) which he got from a bunch of bats made for a Pro.
