Title: Bat buying...
Post by: Buzz on December 15, 2012, 07:33:32 PM
is this prime bat buying season?

Am I alone in thinking that there seems to be more bats bought during the last few weeks on our forum than ever.

the discounts around at the moment mixed with all the new bats and the MSR bats.

not to mention the recent flood of lavers!

more pics and reviews please!

Might be peak season on the forums, but bat sales have dropped off a little in store for us.

We had a rush when the new ranges launched, and I expect another preseason rush, but most Christmas purchases seem to be soft leather.

I am always in the market for soft leather... not sure it is for cricket though!

3 haha. Got a lot of gear I'm getting coming in, just cause I saw the offers, but also as the youngest brother is just starting up! By starting up, I mean buying 3 bats, pads and gloves and probably a thighguard for him. :P Idk, I seem to just love buying gear!

Think it must be a mix of all the decent offers about and the pics of the handpicked 2013 bats.

All i know is that all the pictures of lavers in the past couple of days have made me want one lol

This is how I rationalise it - I don't smoke, barely drink, no Sky, drive a 1.4...
Equals bat tokens! :)

I think that might be my problem too... :P I wasn't blessed with an alcohol tolerance, so I buy bats to make up for it. :D

At  £91 per month for a full sky package for internet, phone and sports, I don't agree!

BT vision is the answer - SS 1 & 2 so you get all the football and cricket and most of the rugby and darts plus ESPN for about 40% of the price of standard sports package direct through Sky

true, but you miss out on a lot of the boxing and minor cricket.

And to answer your question Buzz maybe on the forum we have the sense to buy bats in the off season to get them knocked in for April

Or maybe we are all just bat buying nutters!

Most big fights are on PPV anyway aren't they? I generally only watch cricket, rugby and football so it's ideal for me

I think there is a bit of both here, I also think there are some awesome bargains around.

I'm not just interested in big fights, and in any event there are relatively few PPV fights now - David Haye vs Fraudley Embarassin' killed that particular market stone dead...

I tend to watch the fights on CH5 now, Young Eubank and Tyson Fury

Yeah I'm glad there is some decent boxing on terrestrial channels

Very true, and long may it continue!

I have poor alcohol tolerance and no money - I drink heavily and have 4 bats.

I am very stupid.
