There are two new Gray Nicolls bats to be brought out in Australia for the Boxing Day test.
A revamped Kaboom which looks awesome and if it was available in the U.K I'd have one and a completely new bat the X181 which I'm still undecided upon whether I like it or not.

Reminds be of their bats from 4 or 5 years ago that X181. Unimaginative name though
-
Are these available in the UK at all?? Really fancy that X181.
-
They don't look massively different profiles.

I don't think they are.
They new U.K kaboom has already been released.
-
I have no idea why, but that Kaboom reminds me of one of the kookaburra beast models. ???
Still I like the look of both of them.
-
The X181 looks a lot like the Aus GN Evo profile wise.

Must have missed the new Kaboom. Not that I ever liked that model but I may be bought back round

where do they get the names from?
x181 is there a meaning behind it? and the rest

It says a 181mm long sweetspot. I'm not 100% sure how they would know that's how the bat would turn out when made, so they probably have to test it throughout the batmaking process. It does look pretty darn big though!

They do just look the same shape as any other gn ? Just new stickers
-
Personally I feel the X181 is just the old Aus GN Evo with new stickers, but thats just my opinion.

It's not immediately obvious but it looks like the X181 has a lower middle and no bow. Not a fan of either sets of stickers though...

Aus GN Evo

nothing I really like here. The Kaboom is just blah! and the X181....is it just me or are these letter/number combinations a bit silly (I mean, how does even the most skilled batmaker get a 181mm sweetspot, as opposed to a 85mm one, or a 178mm one?)
-
I bet the Size 5 X181's will have monsters middles all the way down ;)
-
They are quite different to what they have done before, GN have gone with off set edges for the fist time which should in theory prolong the sweet spot. I am sure it's something that has been discussed here before.

The Kaboom bats I saw over here didn't impress me overly, for $650AUD you'd expect a fair bit of bat, but the ones I saw had around 6 grains when I'd be expecting upwards of 7-8 dead straight grains on a Players grade bat. X181 was way too bottom heavy for my liking. Aside from the GN Legend and the XXX Hand Crafted offering from Meulemans, the rest of the range doesn't excite me, and this coming from a staunch GN man. I however really like the new Slazengers and Spartans CG Authority picked up very well and tapped up nicely.

It sounds like a bus service
