Title: Operation Refurb....is a go!!!
Post by: The_Bird on January 07, 2013, 07:19:25 PM
Hi guys

I'm in the process of sending these bats off for a refurb and thought it would be interesting to see the difference between the two companies refurbishment services.

The two Newbery's have already gone off to the Chalet and should be back in 2 weeks or so. The four Redbacks are going tomorrow, two are mine and the other two are a fellow teammates. I'd imagine they will take a bit longer...

Here are the before pics and when they return I will post the bats in all their glory.

I'll update this when the Newbery's return home!

Hope they come back looking good mate! Some lovely grains in those pictures as well

I think when he bats we should line all the pairs we have and see if he can hit the ball, or will the gloves take his fancy :)

Some lovely bats mate, what's the deal with black redback stickers? are they an earlier design? I haven't seen them before...

is the owner of paradox bats a leftie? toe on both seems fairly well used/abused!!
Title: Re: Operation Refurb....is a go!!!
Post by: The_Bird on January 08, 2013, 02:34:01 AM
It's just where the scuff sheet has raised a bit I think mate, the toe is complete.

The black redbacks are both top of the range from a few years back, all the bats have lovely straight grain's. can't wait to see what they come back like.

Bat looks great now you've had it rehandled. Noticed they stickered it as a SPS instead of the original Players grade it was.

Cheers mate

They said over the phone 'we've stickered it as an SPS, I hope you don't mind...'

Hmmmm not really haha, I won't be selling it

be great to see them too.

As i said there something nicer about seeing pics of a used and loved bat and then ones of it looking like new again next to it that's even better than just seeing pics of a shiny new bat.

One is Luke Bucklands and the other is mine. You would've done mate he's top 4 bat for the 2's. His one flys and it's a tad over 2'10, all 4 are lovely bats.

ah (No Swearing Please) yeah knew id recognise the name. didnt get enough action against us to tell unfortunately. Alex (brother) and I were surprised at the vast array of bats in your 2nds alone.... redback, talisman and L+W were all spotted ;)

I've asked for the 2013 paradox stickers on the paradox bats as well so they should look perfect. Not much to do on them I just think Newbery were quicker as they have a whole refurb sub-division I think. Gary does them all himself so the standards should be awesome.

Most are from me, the laver was DK the old 1's skipper, he's got a legacy haha. The talisman has scored about 30 runs so I'm not claiming responsibility for that one....

ah right haha. yeah DKs laver made about 20 from 100 balls so did get to see a lot of it, just not hitting much. ( he did look silly in an ayrtek, just didnt suit him at all)

and the talisman was being used by a 14 year old im guessing?
Title: Re: Operation Refurb....is a go!!!
Post by: The_Bird on February 07, 2013, 03:11:31 PM
He had problems with his knees last year so struggled to run, with his old laver I've seen him smash county bowlers everywhere I just think the weather didnt help his batting last year. Wearing an Ayrtek on a pudding is quite funny haha.

Yeah that talisman is a 2'5 short handle bat. It's too light for him I think.

Anyone else had a handle replacement on their bat? It Feels very flexible, do I need to let it dry?

They replace the handle first and then do remaining proceedings so it must be down to flexibility within the handle perhaps because I'm sure it has gotten enough time for drying.

Ok guys here are the Redbacks. These were £110 posted in total so £27.50 each bat.

The finish is brilliant and all were a little more battered than the Newbery's. Very happy with them!!

Just to add to this, Redback are sometimes renowned for being a little bit late getting back to you but I can't praise the communication enough. I had regular contact with Kiri and was kept up to speed throughout the whole procedure.
