Hey,
I need a new lid as my GN Warrior from 2007 has had it. I'm a wicketkeeper, so visibility, and light weight is a must. But I'm also an opening batsman, so protection is important too. I don't care about looks or colour.
My priorities:
- Visibility and Light weight
- Protection and Cooling
My current helmet is 55-56 cm, and I fit that perfectly.
My budget is $140 (give or take a bit). I'm from Melbourne, so need some Melburnian (new word?) retailers.
So far I'm thinking to get the base Masuri / Albion helmet, and then buy the Masuri Titanium grill separately.
Any other options?

There's a Masuri keeper lid that would be perfect for you - http://www.masuri.co.uk/wicket-keeping-helmets-.aspx. The peak is a little smaller to improve visibility.

Those are 230 bucks over here. $130 for the helmet and $100 for the titanium grill.

I've tried Albion, Masuri and GM Titanium and would definitely recommend not straying far from Masuri.
As a wicketkeeper, I have also tried the Aero facemask, however I return to the trusted Masuri along with a couple of spare swopabands to mop up the sweat and allow me to use the helmet for batting and keeping.

You might have to make a choice between visibility and light weight then mate. To be honest if I knew about this keeper helmet, I would have bought one fo these instead. And I'm not even a keeper...

I wouldn't buy a masuri after seeing the Samuels video.

What happened to samuels?

Top edges a bouncer from Malinga into his face...
Grill didn't stop it and was bleeding heavily :o
-
Have seen it now, had the grill setting to the widest which can easily allow a ball through
-
i hated wearing a lid... cos of visablity i have (No Swearing Please) eye sight and i need as much light as i can get coming into the lid!
the ayrtek ticks all the box's for me!

You know, I'm only 14, and the fastest bowling I face is 100, from a bowler at our club. I think I'll be fine.

As long as it's lighter than the GN Predator from 2007, I'm fine. And it probably has better visibility. I've got a couple of options on the radar now.
- Masuri WK helmet with steel grill
- Albion Elite Ti22 Pro with Titanium grill
- Masuri base model helmet with Titanium grill
- Albion NXT with Titanium grill

Masuri keeper helmet would be good..

Have you cosidered Puma? I used to have this one and stupidly gave it away to a friend...its fits well, is fairly light and visibility is good...also has one of those tightening things in the back so fits snuggly
they are on PDC for just under a $100 (and they will remove vat on it as well)and i know their shipping prices are cheap so would be worth adding it to cart nd going through the checkout process to see what the total comes out to...

The Puma helmet seems a bit restricting with the view through the grill. Can anyone else vouch for the Puma helmets?

Went to GCCC a couple of months back, originally intending to get another Albion. Found the Masuri lighter and more comfortable. Just go there and try it on, what you prefer on your head might not be what you originally intend. Helmets are hard, can't really tell until you wear it.
