Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone has dealt with VK sports, Ealing? And if so any comments or remarks?
Cheers

Hi WC,
I have dealt with them on many occasions. All I can say is that the level of knowledge amongst staff varies considerably. For example, one guy tried to sell me an SS ton and one of his selling points was that they are 'pressed hard' which will increase performance and durability! Another told me there is no difference in willow performance among the different grades as they all come from the same tree.
Another guy has apparantly played cricket for Kenya in the 60s/70s, he seems to know what he is talking about.
They seem to be one of the main sellers of SS equipment in the UK and some of the staff claim to have close contact with the Indian players - I'm not sure how much of this is true.
Their own brand soft equipment seems pretty good value.
They have a wide selection of bats - the only one I have purchased a Newbery UZI players from them a couple of years back - pretty good bat. Since then I have moved exclusively to custom made bats as I don't trust sales staff or manufacturers anymore to tell me the truth.

sum one in my middlesex team got a SS from there, and if he broke it or wasnt happy he could get a new one for free

As said staff knowledge varies... had several £150 bats shoved into my hands the first time I went.
Got told that I had to leave as the shop was getting busy... there was noone else in the shop!

I can't believe that this can be true

I Have Purchased a few items from them. Mainly Spikes, Or Clothing, Never purchased a bat, But when i went to the showroom, the staff did seem to know some things, But i wouldn't personally trust everything them say

Thanks Guys! Really appreciate your views!
The reason I have to order from london or other places is that my local cricket shop dont stock any newbery cricket bats!
I would appreciate if you guys can recommend me a good online retailer (or a retailer who has a good service)....I might not be able to travel to the store to purchase so I have to depend on the store people to dispatch a good one!
Cheers

Try Beckenham Cricket Specialists (google them - they have a website) - I have visited them a few times and they seem like a genuine bunch of guys with a passion for the game - it is worth calling them before and asking them to pick out a nice newbery for you.

VKS sell very decent quality own brand soft goods. While I wouldn't always listen to them in terms of bat advice they tend never to be trying to rip you off. They also are extremnely good in terms if refunds and replacements if anything goes wrong.
-
I can vouch for VKS soft goods, I own some pads and gloves of theirs, top quality.
-
I can vouch for assports quality stuff cheap aswell
-
VKS, i trekked there before a psychology exam to avoid revising, there website is incorrect with stock levels, and customer service poor.
-
They pressure you to buy SS bats, always telling me how all the great indian players use them.
-
I remember when i went to buy some cricket gear from them, One salesmen told me to check online :S ..I told him were in the store can you show us here? All he did was point to the stuff and we had to check ourselfs. Until me and my brother started checking out the bats, picking them up, testing the pickups.. One other salesmen saw a sales opportunity and started helping us out.
All in all, apart from that (No Swearing Please) who tells his customers to check online.. they are a pretty decent shop. I brought my gray nicholls nitro bat from there, It had a tiny crack after a few net sessions and they repaired it for free. :)

Some of the guys in there do not have a clue, the main man came to step in to help and he knew what he was saying was wrong but insisted of giving me Bull. Some nice SS bats, not a lot else.
