Title: What Box Set up do you have
Post by: Ciaran on January 14, 2013, 06:08:20 PM
This might be one of the worst threads ever created, but Im interested to find out what Box set up people have.
As in do people use the full set that has the box and thigh pad to be inserted, a jock strap and thigh pad or what?

Im considering the shock doctor box and compression shorts. Its used in Baseball on a huge scale and think it would work quite well over here. Any thoughts?

I used Slazenger boxers with a pouch in it for the box,but its not too great as the box is never held in place well enough

Ha, House, Band Of Brothers, The Pacific and Breaking Bad are my all time faves.

Seriously though, i use the aero box with the aero shorts. Only way to describe it is perfect.

I just wear 2 pairs of boxers and put a Readers box in between. Considering getting a Nutty Buddy with a proper jockstrap, as you really do have to protect your groinal region! Also wear Aero P2 Strippers, but planning to change (perhaps to Stretton Fox, if the price is right! 8)) as I find my box isn't always in place wearing this set up.

I have been promised a Stretton fox box...!

currently the traditional jock strap with not so traditional shock Dr, my oldest surviving, first choice bit of kit.

long under armour shorts over the top, then the thigh pad action.

Kookaburra batting shorts with the box in, then the strippers over the top hold the box in place

The box slipping is surely less down to which thigh pad you wear and more due to you sandwiching it between 2 pairs of boxer shorts  ???

I use Aero pants and box combo, spot on

I use the Aero shorts and box, hardly even notice I'm wearing it sometimes. Really comfortable and doesn't hinder mobility.

Same here, the aero shorts and box are great. Used to use some under armour shorts and a shock doctor box but the shorts kept moving around and the box never really fitted that well. Got the aero shorts from IJC last season and they're brilliant.

find them more comfortable than a jockstrap.

So it seems the two most popular options are the Shock Doctor set up vs. the Aero shorts and box set up.

Do you guys wear anything over the compression Aero's and Shock Doctors? Worried that the compression shorts of these two companies won't match up to my current go to compressions - Nikes.

just ordered compression shorts from 010gear that have the pouch for the box built in...if it works like its supposed to then that would be my choice for the rest of my life...obviously with a box inside :)

I wear Aero compression thighs but I'm not overly comfortable with my box being in pouch.

Aero compression is quite good for its value, might try UnderArmour too and see how that one is.

I'm using an elongated (modern ??? ) style box in 2 pairs of briefs. Same experience - the box doesn't sit as well since I started P2 Strippers last month.

Anyone using the Aero shorts with the elongated style boxes? Or should I just bite the bullet and get an Aero box as well?

I go for the boxers.

Had GM one last year and they were rubbish. Got some GN and Salz over the off season and think that the GN are a more natural fit for the box.

Then I have two boxes. Currently toying around with them which one I prefer.

(please note this could be a daft question) Do wicket keepers wear a box as well?

Yes mate, keepers do wear a box and if you don't, you're an idiot.

Simmy has a thing about wearing a lid when standing up, but I'm sure even he would protect the old man and his mates. I've taken a hit there when standing up and it saved me some serious aggro

You know that people are getting really impatient for the season to start when a thread about box setup makes it to a 3rd page!

I just wear pants and shock doctor.

But I like the idea of these compression pants, Which ones are the better ones for an average cricketer like myself?

I got this mate, they have a specific pouch for the box. I believe they are the choice for MMA fighters. Might be pricey but worth the money in my book, and I have used the shorts for 2 seasons and still in good condition

have been using slazenger cheapo shorts with an old box but have recently been getting better gear all round (since logging onto this site to be fair, its been an eye opening but expensive experience!). Was looking at either the aero compression shorts and box or have recently heard about the 010 shorts, anyone have any idea which is best of the 2 and which box is best to use with the 010's?

I use the Aero compression shorts with a slaz box. I didn't get on with the Aero box.

The shorts are one of the best compression shorts around in my opinion, and I also own Nike Pro and Canterbury versions of.

Aero shorts and box, find them very comfy for batting in.

Need to find a different shape box for keeping, find crouching pushes/rubs the top of the box against err ones pubic area which gets quite uncomfortable after a while.
