Took a little gamble and bagged this on ebay recently for peanuts.

Under the 4 grips that had been applied was the original plain black 'rubber' - which basically disintegrated when i touched it.
Weighs 2'9 with a single grip. Has 7 grains and very little damage other than a bit of toe feathering and a tiny edge crack.
Had a little hit in the nets just now and it seems to ping very nicely! Now got to decide whether to leave it in its current splendour or clean it up a bit.....

that looks in great condition - but I would leave it as it is
-
I'd send it to me so i can display it nicely :D

Very, very nice, brings back memories of my youth, I was about when these came out, I mean playing cricket.
-
What the pick up like name compaired to a new 100 mate
-
Always leave them as they are...!
-
Leave it as it is, gives it character.

Thing of beauty

Refurbish and get new stickers in it but leave the scoop bit
-
Think i'll leave it as it is, other than shoring up the toe a bit. Most importantly, the handle and splice seem to be intact.
The twine used on the handle is black, i wonder if this gives an indication as to the era this was made?
Pick up seems a little weighty compared to my current bats which are all around the 2'9 mark, not sure why.
Can't compare with a current scoop as we don't have any at the moment, sold them all recently and waiting for a fresh batch to arrive.

Awesome! Love the leather texture stickers and it even tells you it's "extra special"!
-
The shoulder stamp is an 'E' - might tweet gray nics about it later.
She's a real go-er in the net! Love it!

Judging by the style of the "Perimeter Weighted" and "Extra Special" markings and that nowhere on the bat does it say "Scoop", I'd say it was made between 1977 and 82

Ah so i've got an old lady! Very pleased. Amazing to think she's survived in such good nick all this time. Mistimed shots high up the blade give some really horrible vibrating feedback, but anything in the normal hitting area pings off the face as pure as the day she was made.

Looks like a very good bat. I can't believe it is that good condition after so long!
My old man had one of these (no idea where it is now :( ) but last I saw of it, it was in terrible condition.
It looks like you got lucky and got yourself a good one! :)

Extra special was the uncoated finish grade below 5*

I have the same exact bat, probably 20 odd years old, my father's bat it was, I am still using it and it goes like an absolute gun! No signs of breaking down whatsoever...

Good to hear mate, i would love to see some pictures.
I'll be using my scoop on tour i reckon, Leeds this year :)
