After reading through a topic in here and seeing some of the injuries picked up by even lower level batsman I've decided I'll go back to wearing a lid, had thought about getting one but now treating it as a necessity! when I first started a few years ago I wore one but as I progressed I decided I'd scrap it (it was a warm summer that year) and never went back.
I was hoping for some suggestions, as I'm still very much in my cricketing infancy.
I've roughly £100 to spend, I've a pretty big head so need something that will fit properly and is nice and lightweight and well ventilated.

Find yourself an Ayrtek Premier with a Ti Grill. Quick search in Google Shopping will find you one for £100 and as someone who finds the large Masuri small, with a big head it will be very comfortable.

For £100 you can pick up a Premier of ours with titanium grille, second safest option on the market to our Elite range and offers a custom fit system as well.
Also future proof with proposed changes to the BSI standards due for intro in 2013 :)

Well, if you want something light, then I would go for a Masuri Ti. Not sure how well ventilated these are though... I know an Ayrtek Premier with a Ti Grill is a decent weight and has good ventilation for that price though! Offers more protection too, but not quite as light as the Masuri Ti.
I think I saw some Slazenger Ti Helmets on the Ebay Bargains thread going for around less than £50, which are very similar to Masuri helmets, so maybe that would be a good place to look, as you would be saving £50 for other stuff! 8) I would probably go for the Ayrtek taking all these things into account, as I want the best protection I can get!

Room wise, I have found Albion's are great and they're not heavy, especially if you have a titanium grill.
Otherwise, I'd look at Ayrtek, they have a good rep on here.

I never wore a helmet growing up and never wore one last year when I came back to cricket - although I did try on a masuri & a grey much (I think). Other people's lids, but just to see what they were like. I didn't like them and didn't bother with one.
Then one of my mates top edged a spinner in the nets - nice scar on his eye now. Much like the injurys I've read about on hear too. This (and swmbo nagging) convinced me to get one.
I ordered a ayrtek from Tom. I've a larger sized Swede as well and it fits like a dream. I've worm it in 2 nets now and I don't even feel like it's on my head, or that it's blocking my view. Absolute top bit of kit.
I got the Raw with black grill. Looks stunning as well!

cheers everyone, I've been having a quick browse around and I've pretty much decided to got with a ayrtek premier, Everyone seems to speak highly of them for everything I need (plus they are by far the best looking helmets on the market)
It will be going on the purchase list for payday (Friday 8) )

its actually £109.99 direct :P bit more if I want snazzy pinstripes 8)
will still definitely be investing in this, cant really put a price on quality. thanks for the reply

if you google it the retailers will have it on offer cheaper than us as we only sell at full RRP off our website. they wont have pinstripes on the stock they have though if thats what your after on it as an extra feature.

yeah just pulling your leg pal, do like the look of the pinstripes to add to the overall impressive quality of the helmet from what everyones saying in reviews etc. whats a extra few quid to look good as I'm being bowled 1st ball :D :P
