Title: Newbery tomahawk 'pro grain'
Post by: mattw on January 26, 2013, 03:23:08 PM
Went to the expo today, wasn't a lot going on so I went to have a look in the lords shop, some nice sticks in there but the prices all £RRP.

Anyway, has a little look at the new pro grain tomahawk and the lighting in there is good, so when you held the bat upto the light on a different angle you can see the proper grains and the fake grains that have been added.

I'll post pictures of this later when I get back. Interesting to say the least.

Bizarre....

Looks like someone has just filled in the gaps with a pen, if I were going to make a grain sheet I'd've made it way nicer looking than that!!

I to was at the expo today and seeing these confirmed to me that they are the worst bat i have ever seen, the fake grain looks just that, fake, the sticker design is rubbish and pick up was awful IMO

It isn't a grain sheet, it's some sort of dye I believe they're using to make their willow look like it has more grains then it does.

Thats just crazy. The craziest thing is I bet it works with some people.

"Oooh these have a lot of grains, must buy one!"

Just looks stupid to me. Would expect more from Newbery...

Looks aweful. Looks like something one of the asian bat makers would do, never thought newbery would do that.

Disgraceful, expected better from Newbery.

I think they should've just adapted the clear cenkos labels for the John Newbery tribute bat. That would've oozed class

I'm a bit worried about the direction Newbery are taking with their branding, the new stickers and bags look hideous - the total opposite of what I always thought Newbery stood for, and the reason I love their kit - classical, elegant and quality.

How are they allowed to do this? Surely its false advertsing, or is that just me being naive?
