Guys,
Looking into going to Australia at the end of the year to catch some of the Ashes, as its possibly the last chance I'll get before having to settle down
Just wondering if anyone else has been, and has any sort of advice for hotels/hostels and tickets.
Hoping to get to at least 2 of the Tests, any advice on which would be the best to go to in terms of access, price, atmosphere, city
Had a quick look into tickets, but not sure they are available yet, or maybe I didnt look in the right places.
Does anyone know if its possible to book tickets for the tests over here? before you go over to Aus
any help would be great
cheers

Boxing Day and Sydney
-
I'm negotiating to go down under with my better half for a week of test cricket... We will have to wait and see!
-
I would speak to the balmy army guys to get some ideas and then compare to what you can get yourself.
It will be an awesome tour - my suggestion is that you go to Melbourne and Sydney as they aren't that far apart and it is a brilliant time of year to be in Aus.
book asap as the prices will be astronomical!!

Yep the Boxing day test was my main priority and then Sydney because its close
But trying to find tickets is the problem, only things I can find are the big package deals, which are way to expensive for me. Any Aussies on here know if tickets are available for you to buy over there now?
If its Melbourne I will be able to stay with friends, so only need tickets

I did Melbourne and Sydney last time and bought tickets online. They go on sale to Aussies first so if you know someone over there then they can get them for you otherwise you have to wait till they go on general sale. The MCG is massive so won't sell out but you will have to be quick with Sydney as that sells out much quicker. Go on the barmy army website and they will let you know when they go on sale. You can get a package with the barmy army but its much more expensive than sorting it out yourself.
If you are going to go to Sydney and want a hotel you need to book soon as especially if you want to be there for New year's eve as it is obviously packed. The nearest we could get to the center was the Olympic Park which is a half hour train ride from the center.

Ashes 2013 have more hard for two teams.Because England and Australia both teams are in good form.
-
Boxing day and Brisbane for sure.
-
My parents are going out for the Adelaide test. Absolutely gutted I can't go
-
Make sure you go to a few tests, the way our selectors have been rotating guys, you'll probably see 2 different teams!
-
Brisbane and Perth would be ones I'd avoid.
Just for the obvious reason that if a shellacking is going to happen to England, that's where they're more likely to happen.
-
sorry to bring this back up
But does anyone have any sort of guidline price for match tickets over there? cant seem to find anything online and just wanting to try work out what sort of budget I'm going to need?
will prices alter much in the different tests?
any help would be great
Cheers

I think when I went last time they were 45-60 aus dollars which was 30 to 40 quid although I did get the cheapest ones available.
