Had an email from a lad moving to Oslo in the summer, he says 'we play in the first division of Sydney's Northern Beaches park cricket scene'.
Now park cricket sounds like social cricket to me, but I know you Aussies like to give things crazy names just wondered what sort of standard he was likely to be?
Cheers
Dave

think park is one below grade?

A bit of online nosing suggests he plays for Mona Vale in the 'Manly Warringah Cricket Association - 1st Grade - Clifton D Leake Shield'

Grade cricket is the top comp in the states - each state then has something different for the comps below that. Up here in QLD it goes Grade (Always Turf) --> Sub-districts (Mixture of Turf and Synthetic) --> Warehouse (Synthetic).
By the sounds of it he would either be Subbies or Warehouse equivalent in QLD.

Warehouse? porquoi?

Cheers guys, always great to have any new members, but even better to have ones who are good.

Its more casual cricket but playing in the manly district would be nice, its a good holiday area too.

Sydney grade cricket has 5 grades as far as I'm aware, with the Grade 1 players advancing to State cricket. I would say this is a district comp of some sort. I reckon in terms of ability, it would be 5th grade at best, with a long outside chance of being 4th grade standard.

Spot on I'd say - we have 6 grades up here in QLD and I'd say it would be 6th grade standard or lower.
You can get the odd bloke who is pretty good, but just plays for fun and with mates.

Definately the odd decent player poking around in warehouse cricket. When I played out there we had a minor counties a first class player and an old boy who had played western Australia 2nds. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and us English boys didn't take it very seriously

In Perth we have the WACA Grade comp, then the WA Suburban Turf comp (WASTCA) which is the comp my club plays in, the you have the synthetic comps such as the PCA, Northern Metro and Southern Metro comps.

Hahaha we just played against Aths last weekend, lost by a run in a fairly fiery match at Lilac Hill. I play for Western Suburbs.
