The M&H Distinction has been my favourite bat every since I played against someone who had one of the first one's about 3 years ago. The power, pickup and balance was amazing and I've always hoped I'd get to own one someday.
After going to pickup my refurbed Harlequin, I had a play with a few bats while I waited.
This was either a bad move for my wallet or a good move for this season, as I ended up walking out with this little beauty. It's
2.11, has 18 grains and measures 25mm on the edges and has a 70mm spine.
I'm no pro photographer that's for sure, but here are some for the M&H fans. I've put it next to my 2.12 Newbery B52 (a large bat in itself) for size comparison.
I'm absolutely over the moon to finally own one - I can't stop picking it up/tapping it with a mallet!
Can't wait till nets start next week :)
James

Hello
-
You are a beauty.

Is this a grade 1?

Yes Matt, quite a few blemishes but I'd rather have performance, and the mallet rebounds very nicely indeed ;)
-
Very nice looking blade :)
-
As long as your happy with it that's all that matters

Big piece of willow that considering the weight. I like how the maker has been able to leave a fair amount of wood in the toe too. The middle looks on the high side for me otherwise I would have been jealous ;)
How much do these go for down at Taunton these days?

Thanks mate, it's my favourite profile along with the GM Icon

How much did that cost you mate if you dont mind me asking? I like the distinction shape but I can't get myself to pay the price...
-
I hope it snaps
**Disclaimer - jealousy is an awful thing**
Looks bloody lovely mate, my mate has an Amplus that doesn't look half as good as that, so am sure yours will be a rocket
-
Still my fave profile ever!
Laid mine face down on top of my chest of drawers in full view of my snoozing position and had very pleasant crickety dreams for days!

he he. I like the amplus too but the middle is too high for me. It's another work of art though!

I can't stop picking it up and playing some shots. I feel like a kid at Christmas ;)

That did indeed look good.

Ill do a review of it at some point. Hopefully will get to use it a bit at the forum net in London on 18th.
Hoping it plays as well as it looks. Had a bit of a swing with it, and pickup was pretty good. Although Paul (itsjustcricket) thought it was heavy when he picked it up!

I thought it picked up quite nicely, certainly not heavy.

Helllooooooow, very nice, that profile is loverly

I think the profile is pretty much perfection. Small edges (compared to most bats at the mo) but wood in the right places. Such a big bat for the weight!

Thought I'd update everyone on the bat as I've used it a few times at nets.
One thing to bear in mind with M&H bats is that they weigh them naked - i.e. without grip stickers etc. My bat is stated as 2.11 but actually weighs 2.14 on the scales - I've got one grip and a scuff sheet on so that's about right.
While the pickup isn't going to be featherlight it's perfect for me and in no way feels like a 2.14 stick - more like my 2.9 Flare - that's testament to the guys at M&H for making such a great shape.
The finishing is excellent - I've seen a few M&H bats in the flesh that don't look that great for the money but this one has been very well finished, with the oil beautifully enhancing the grains.
Now for performance.
It's safe to say I've never used a bat like it. The ball flies off with ease and anything out of the very large middle simply melts. That moment when you time something so well you hardly feel it - it's a regular occurrence with this bat.
Really looking forward to using it in a game - bring on May :-)
