Title: Bag Help!
Post by: toenails97 on February 03, 2013, 12:12:55 PM
Hi lads and ladies I would like some advice on choosing my new bag. After having a Kookaburra Pro 1000 bag that cost £75 I was very dissapointed when it ripped at the handle after 10 uses! The retailer has offered to refund me if I send the bag back which I will tomorrow! Anyways im after a big back thats durable and is big preferably as big as 1000mm x 400mm x 400mm.
I have been debating the Ayrtek stand up, Salix pod all kit tri wheeled bag or the Gray Nicolls pro performance bag.
Any help would be appreciated as they all seem good bags!
cheers
Tony

I had 2012's version of the Kookaburra Pro 1000 and am going for the top Aero bag this year. Worth looking at. It's a shame  yours broke, very impressed with my Kookaburra one tbh. Much better than most of the other bags around.

I have a Salix Pod Pro coming in the post tomorrow hopefully, so I'll let you know how it is. Generally people are very impressed by the durability of Salix bags though.

That would be very appreciated mate! Yeh durability on nearly every Salix item is great. I have the Salix Duffle and is well made too. I suppose another option is the newbery tour bag

Spoke to him about this when i visited recently. the bag in question was a lower model, 2nd or 3rd down in the range. I've heard nothing but praise about their top bag from customers.

In 2012 i used the Pro Performance bag from Gray Nics. Pretty good bag to be honest. This year i'm going to get the Players bag from Gray Nics, which is a little smaller.

This seems to meet your budget and requirements. And has the advantage of a proper bat cave, which Gray Nics bags don't have.

Maverick is a great bag for the money, it is noticeably smaller than a lot of other bags that are £10-15 more though.

Yeh although I think I'm sorted at the minute mate with the legend :)

Be warned the Legend doesn't have straps, the only handle/strap on the whole bag is the one for pulling it along on its wheels.

Its a real pain to load in and out of cars.

Hi Tony,

As requested, The access to the main 'pocket' is via the silver bit on the front.  THe silver bit on top is the top pocket.

On the very top, there is a helmet pocket

I also put (dump) whites etc in there as well.  This pocket goes down to approx where it says Ayrtek, but doesn't take up the whole of the top of the bag inside (if that makes sense)

This pic is inside the bag - you may or may not be able to make out the top 'pouch' type pocket.

Plenty of room inside.  I could easily get another set of pads & gloves in the main body (keeper stuff)

Two bat pockets & two large 'stuff' pockets, that easily fit trainers/spikes, drinks, helpful stuff.

It has 2 carry handles, an extendable handle for dragging it, and also just above the ayrtek logo on the first pic is another handle which makes loading it into a car a doddle.

HTH

I have the Salix Pod One, it is really well put together, huge, and has a bat cave for two bats, and it has pockets to keep spikes and lid separate.

Best thing about the Ayrtek bag is there bat pockets. Excellently padded, but better than these bat caves. On the latest model I think they now stand up better now due to more support. If your after a big bag then this is the one. Masses of room.

Like the look of that slazenger pretty much what im after size wise and other recommendations though for other brands about the same price? My last couple of bags have been slazenger and fancied something different now

Sorry forgot to mention- preferably a bag made by one of the sponsors on here I prefer supporting the small manufacturers on here rather than buying a gray nics or gm or something like that

Hi mate got my Salix bag, very impressed by the quality of materials and manufacturing. Very roomy inside and the padded bat cave is fantastic! It easily fits my pads, gloves, helmet, 2 bats, spikes, clothing, strippers as well as room for my keeping kit (I think).
This is the Pod Pro, so I have no doubts that the more expensive bags in the range will be even more impressive.

Ayrtek is a great bet in that case, mine is good, fits all gear inc keeping and have had no problems with bats getting damaged in the bat pockets

We only do 2 bags, a duffle and a stand up.

We have improved the bag over time with feedback to amend the materials, wheels and handles to arrive at what we now produce and sell.

We have never done a red and silver one ???

Sorry my fault entirely! Got mixed up with the aero ones, have always been happy with the gear I've had of you lads so far, I suppose the only fair way to apologise is to order one  :D (at least I will be telling my lass that's why I had to buy one anyway!)

Well thought I'd update my thread with the bag I went for.....
The newbery tour, was gonna go for an Arytek standup or gray nicolls legend however found this for a great price new. Great bag all in all I have loads of space spare and it stands up great!
