Title: Custom Sareen Sports Bat Review
Post by: Cover_Drive on February 04, 2013, 10:24:54 PM
Just got this bat thirty minutes ago. I was told it is 2.11 (spine around 71mm actually 66mm, many thanks to Chad for pointing it out :) ) and it feels like that, does not feel an ounce lighter. Pickup is tad bottom heavy but overall the balance appears to be good. Middle seem to be elongated and is quite massive bat. It has a thin round handle so I applied half GM Shock Absorba and double thickness chevron on top. Seems like soft pressed as indentations are easily visible after tapping with the mallet.

I was told this is replicate of Virat Kohli shape.

Its my first Sareen Sports bat, I always detested their off-shelf shapes so with this crossing my eyes, I was allured.

As I was playing around I noticed underneath the twine there appears to be some sort of webbing (picture is below).

Hopefully will use it next weekend and update this thread. In the meantime here are the pictures (bear with me as they were taken from a new phone for the first time).

If anyone has any question(s) feel free to ask.

Thank you!

That's a big bat! Are you happy with it? It doesn't quite look as big as a 71mm spine height, but that could just be me! How do you measure spine height out of interest? I lay my bat facing up on a table, then measure the distance from the surface of the table to the edge of the bat at the middle while lifting the bat slightly so only the spine is touching the table. Not sure if it is that accurate though...

I like how this one has got a very mild concave. You should have asked for a nice oval handle!

After your post, I went and re-measured and I was wrong initially, not sure how I came up with 71mm. It is 66mm with rounded edges (after the pictures I rounded the edges).

I do just like that but against the wall.

Many thanks for pointing it out, you have sharp eyes mate! :D

Cheers bruv; lets hope this timber shows its class in nets.

Cheer guys; I am knocking it every now and then. The rebound is getting better and better. I have applied Bulldog performance enhancing scuff as that was only I had available.

Nice bat CD, if you don't like it feel free to send it here ;)....I don't think you will like it hehehe...jealous :)

I will send it to you along your RPC so you can have a go with it in your March nets.

Cheers; that's interesting to see.

I think little to no concaving with lower swell position seem to be common among international players throughout the world?

specially when you want to hit a six like this
Rahane six runs, Vinay Kumar to Ajinkya Rahane 6 runs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjP55DpJhmA#)

There are a lot of batsmen using bats with no concaving at all in International cricket . Perhaps we all should follow suit  ;).

i think a mix of both is good the kg i just got has not much is a bit of a lump for me...

i like my concaving though but saying that i think there a massive place for convex backs for sure
