Hi guys
I was just wondering if anyone knew what DA on the shoulder of my Woodstock means?
I'm guessing its probably the bat maker, but can anyone confirm this for certain?

Was it bought second hand ?. My guess is that they personalise the initials onto the shoulder . I could be completely wrong here. My Woodstock has JN on imprinted on it , it could either be John Newsome or the the previous owner

The intuition of having stamps on shoulders is to depict the manufacturing year and month.
Each letter denotes to a year and a month.
'D' could mean 2013 whereas 'A' means first month of a year.

was looking at there wedsite the other day and found it really funny that the tools he uses for hand making his bats seems to be a drill with a lot of different attatchments and and buffer for polishing and buffing and possibly a few draw knives to do a bit of shaping,
But he does say he hand makes his bats so he must be telling the truth!!

It was very amusing when i did ask him, even better as I was with a bat maker at the Expo at Lords really was a kodak moment

I went to John's workshop to pick one up in late 2011 and he was quite open about the fact that he had acquired the majority of his bats that he said he then shaped and finished.
Although slightly disappointing (to me) in the sense that you'd like to follow your bat's birth from the cleft to the middle, there's no denying Woodstock sell quality equipment...

Absolutely. Provided companies are being honest with their customers and the end product is of a high quality that buyers are happy with, I don't see any issue.
Totally different if they don't disclose their processes/are economical with the truth when asked though...
