Ok, now I bought a albion ultimate classic helmet online and received it yesterday. The back pad fits tight and secure to each of the velcro pads. The same with the front one, tight and secure. But on the right and left hand side the pads fit 'loosely' to the right and left velcro pads, but not at all to the middle velcro pad, and overall this leads to the pads on the right and left hand side looking and feeling 'loose'. Is this a fault? Or is this how they are meant to fit?
Basically prodirect cricket have been no help whatsoever and are saying if I believe it is faulty then I should send it back, and if found to be faulty, they will refund my money and postage. But I just wanted to see if anyone else has an albion helmet and how the pads inside their helmet fit, or even how the pads inside other branded helmets fit. Because my previous helmet was a Slazenger - no idea what model - but the inside of my slazenger is significantly different, and in my opinion, seemingly better made because everything is securely fit into the helmet.
Anyway, does my new helmet sound faulty with the side pads inside fitting 'loosely' or is this how the side pads are meant to fit?
Thanks

Mike not sure what you mean by the term "loosely" do you mean the pads arent sticking the the velcro properly or that the helmet pads aren't in contact with your head and the helmet is fitting "loosely" ?
I thought Albion helmets offered different thickness's of pads within the box so you can adjust the inner circumference of the helmet accordingly.
Of course this will only have bearing until we can understand what you mean by the term in the first place.

Sorry, I should have explained it better :)
When I attach a pad to the right and left hand side of the helmet, the pad is not sticking firmly to the velcro pads. There are three velcro circles on each side, and they attach 'loosely' to two of these, and not at all to the middle one. Whereas when I attached a pad to the front and back, they stick firmly and securely to each of those velcro circles.
I assume that these pads are all meant to stick firmly?

Arent all 4 pads the same so perhaps try swapping them around, if this doesnt work it could well be that the velcro hooks on the shell arent standing proud enough to firmly attached to the loop of the padding. ???
velcro cant exactly break unless it gets clogged up or flattened so hopefully an easy solution to fix with any luck.

I have an albion mate and found that the pads moved whilst I was batting and the helmet got loose if batting for a while. I bought some more of the little circular sticky pads, think it was from a stationers. I have 5 of the circular velro stickers for each pad, front , back and sides and this keeps the pads in place perfectly. Hope you understand what I mean by this it could be something you try.

If you need some more velcro pads let me know as we have a load of them on a roll that happy to send out as long as you cover the P&P.

When I used an Albion (Club Mark 2 back then) I stuck all the pads together to tighten it up a bit.

someone should come up with another method of getting these helmets to fit better....

The front pad is a large and thick one, roughly an inch thick. The pads on the side vary from a thin light grey set (4mm), a medium red set (8mm?), and a thick black set (12mm).
The set I am having the issue with is the thick black set. One of them sticks perfectly to the velcro on the back, but not the same on the right and left hand sides. But I did what you suggested and the thin grey set, and the medium red set, both stick securely to the back and each side.
So it seems that the velcro pads work with the thin (4mm) and medium (8mm?) set on all the sides, but the thick set only sticks firmly to the back one and 'loosely' to the sides. Anyway, tried it on with the medium set and it fits more comfortably than when I tried it on with the thickest set.
I still don't get why the thick ones don't attach, unless you're not meant to use the thick ones on the side? ???
Thanks for your help :)

Now who would be able to come up with such a product, that is bespoke to each individual at the push of a (air pump) button?

I might try that. I noticed on the back there is four, so it might be worth adding an extra one or two onto the side. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the offer, I'd be happy to do that. How much would the p&p be?

Hmm, interesting. Some sort of "Air" Technology. Clever. Wish someone had though of that. You could call yourself Air-Tech or similar.
Anyway, back on topic, I have one, I'll have a look tonight at the setup.

If you want some extra velcro tabs will only be £1 if you want an extra set of padding will be £4.70 as we have the 12mm velcro padding we use that sticks to the hook velcro just fine.

I have an Albion and my side pads have always stayed firmly where I put them - sounds faulty to me - that said with some of the velcro circles you can easily fix it yourself and save the bother of sending it back..
