I was thinking about my career and realised that I have been very close to some major feats, but never quite made it. I think I must be one unlucky player or that serial 'choker' that comes around every once in a while.
My top score in Saturday league cricket is 98. Just two short of a memorable ton.
I took 4 wickets without conceding as run, but couldn't get a fifth (numbers 10 and 11 batting) ending up with about 4-20.
I have taken two wickets in two balls but didn't get close to the hat-trick.
I have taken 4 catches in the outfield but dropped the fifth when at silly mid off.
I would like to just get one memorable accolade before I give up, and at this rate I might have to play till in 80.
Is anyone more unlucky than me?

Not that unlucky no, but I did get dismissed on 95, 97 and 99 before scoring my first hundred all in the same season

I got to mid 40's about 6 times this season? only 15 though :)

I have 5 scores of 88, 2 are not outs and a ton was never really on the cards, but the 3 times I've been dismissed after doing most of the hard work always get to me. I am yet to get that elusive ton.
I got 2 50's in 48 hours on tour in Barbados when I was 18. I was clean bowled in the 40's in the third game 2 days later. There were 4 more games on tour, including a floodlit T20 at the 3 W's oval, but my form totally deserted me, only managing to scrape together a ropey 30-odd in the final game. I did come out as top run scorer on tour, but I always felt like the form I had leading up to tour, and during the first 3 games, should have lead to so much more.
I got run out on 46 aged 16 against the MCC, gutted.

Also, I would just like to say, you have a pretty hefty list of achievements. Chasing records can be all-consuming and even affect performance. Try playing to the best of your ability, and the achievements will come, all you need to do is remember to really concentrate and cash in when the opportunities present themselves.
don't concentrate on trying to get to the point where you are one hit away from a ton, or on the cusp of a 5 wicket haul, or you may never get anywhere near.
I persoanlly remember the times team-mates won a game for us, rather than the times they toned up or took 5 wickets, especially if we lost, cricket is a team sport after all.

Don't worry mate, it's happened to loads of us! Been out on 99 three times and once stranded on 99*!
Got a 98' 97 and out four times for 96. Basically got the whole 90'ties covered as well. Ridiculous! Glad I can laugh about it now cause it certainly isn't funny when I happens.
Learnt from it though so these days I make sure I slow down a bit and try and get to the ton.

Yes. Me. I've never been close to any of those performances - though in my case I don't think there is luck involved ;)

I've been on a hat-trick three times and everytime I've bowled the hat-trick ball down leg :(

It would be worse if you got a wicket the delivery AFTER the hattrick ball.

Rather than thinking about what you haven't done, why not thing about what you have achieved - have you won or saved matches for your team?
Sometimes a catch or a run out can start a collapse that you caused.
If you always think about the things you haven't done, you wont enjoy your achievements. change your outlook and maybe that positive thinking will help you get over the every moving line...

I class myself as a nearly man.
Nearly taking 4 catches in a game, but all ended up on the floor.
Nearly getting a 50 but ending up 33 runs away from it, but I always get told I played well.
Either they think I have potential, or they are talking about someone else.

i scored my biggest senior total and had my best innings a few years ago-
I opened the batting and batted for 49 overs of a 50 over game, was hitting the ball well and scoring plenty and kept on waiting for the clapping to start for my 50 but never heard a thing, kept on playing and scoring runs until getting out 8 balls before the end of the innings, when our young scorer came into the changing rooms at the end of the game and everyone being strangely quiet i found out that i had in fact scored 2 runs. The scorer had thought i was out in the first over despite me looking nothing like the other bloke who actually was out he then tried to cover his mistake by putting my runs against a variety of other players, we ended up on 166 off our 50 overs and there weren't really any other batsmen who made any sizeable contributions so still no idea if i actually scored my first ton or not.
Safe to say the scorer avoided me like the plague for a fair while!

went to my first ton by ski-ing the ball to long on when on 98, but the guy dropped it and I managed to run 3.

Rather than thinking about what you haven't done, why not thing about what you have achieved - have you won or saved matches for your team?
Sometimes a catch or a run out can start a collapse that you caused.
If you always think about the things you haven't done, you wont enjoy your achievements. change your outlook and maybe that positive thinking will help you get over the every moving line...

49* Didn't feel too bad though as the other team accused me of being a ringer as I won us the game, despite the fact it was the 5th time I played against them in 2 years!
4 catches at cover (no drops though)
I've also helped someone get to a significant landmark.
When keeping had a stumped and a caught behind for our skipper who got all 10 wickets!

I've had a couple of 5 fors but am missing that elusive ton. I'd have to get it inboundaries mind, don't think I'll be running much between the stumps!

Thankfully I've made a hundred or two now, but at the stage when I hadn't I made 95 and got caught by my brother who was a fill in fielder.
And being on 93* with 2 balls left, hitting the 2nd last for six and missing the last one was a highlight for me....sore one!

72 is my highest score! Got lots of 30 40s no's and a fair few 50s but a Ton still.escapes me

72 is my top score too - had two other 50's in the same season but none in the last 2 years. A few 40's but I doubt I'll ever score a ton as I play too much cross line and have little patience, but you never know.
Had a few 5 wickets when I was younger, one alongside 5 catches and a golden duck on my uni debut. Been on 2 in 2 balls once I think but missed the hat trick.

Mine is more annoying for the fact so many people rate my technique as the best they've seen for my standard! Just goes to show technique and runs don't always go hand in hand

I've only had one Michelle in my life, but loads of fourfers and a couple of hat tricks. I have on numerous occasions bunged an end up taking few wickets for few runs, while the guy at the other end gets the Michelle... Very frustrating!
