Title: Grains down the edge of the bat
Post by: 19reading87 on February 16, 2013, 10:06:28 PM
I've been refurbishing my mates bat today and realised the edge had 2 grains through it. Does this matter at all???

Have you looked at the toe? I'd expect the grains to run at an angle there, which would explain why you can see something on the edge.

I've heard tales that grains in the toe that are less angled to the face or even perpendicular are better performing than those with more angular grains, but seen nothing to prove it.

The bat has a toe guard on so can't tell. I will try and snap a picture later...

My guess would be that this cleft has been cut very close to the centre of the round, meaning that the grain on the edge would probably correspond with a grain on the face......could you show is the toe?
