Title: Pads that are a wide but compact fit
Post by: Steveo1000 on February 20, 2013, 09:41:56 PM
Hi all,

The pads I currently have which are falling apart and need to replace have what appears to be quite a unique fit I am looking to replicate. The current pads are a brand called CJI and the model is LE ultimate, I want something a bit more classical in terms of branding so don't want to get another pair.
The fit I am refering to is a wide, but very compact fit. Most of the pads I have looked at and tried on are generally thinner and taller in fit than what I am looking for.
I am 6ft and the pads I have are regular men's size, so not looking small men's as an option.
Has anyone come across a pair of pads along the lines of what I am looking for? Wide and compact fit with a classic/traditional look.

Thank you

Someone once mentioned that a Ricky Ponting style pad might be what I am after. Is that what these would be?

I would say the recoil and the ricochet pad are a wider fit for 2013 than the kahuna, while still retaining a compact feel.

The kook front leg is wide, then the back leg is very narrow

The recoils are certainly wide.

I only ever really look at things on the shelf though, I guess I can see how the ricochets would mould round your leg and become narrower

I think the Ayrtek Elites are awesome, pretty wide but still fit really well

Steveo1000 I can take some pictures of a few of the pads that I think would be suitable in the morning for you if you like?

I'll put them on my legs and try and figure out the remote shoot mode on my camera!

How about getting the CJI ones again? Garish branding but go with what you know

I've been using the Uzisports Green Mambas - can't fault them.

and to be fair to simmy, if you bowl every ball at his pads he rarely gets a bat on it

My kookaburra Kahuna RP's seem to do the trick for a person of average height and thickish legs. Shame I seem to use them to hit the ball more than my bat  :(

Does anyone use, or have used Redback pads?
If so any thoughts on those would be appreciated.
Thanks

Puma's are the answer

No, pumas aren't compact, or wide. Then tend to be narrow and tall in my experience.

GM original LE pads wrap around very nicely however the straps are very long mate

Havve you tried the Bulldog or Saf ones? They sound like they would suit you mate, and probably cheaper than going off the rack with one of the big boys?

if only you could spell "knew" lol

Leg glance and sweep work fine for me and I don't need to hit it hard. Just timing, no power required. That's 2 more legside shots than Simdog  :)
