Hi there,
For like my whole cricket career I have landed on my bowling foot at a 45 degree angle, and I believe it is what has caused the many injuries I have.
Does anyone have any drills I can do at this time of year to teach my foot to land (near enough) perfectly straight?

I had this same issue but with my back foot, I spent hours and hours walking through my action making sure that my feet landed parallel and then built it up to a slow jog, then a bit quicker, then quicker and so on till i was bowling off a full run up and landing my feet in the right place, but there is no easy fix at all, it takes hours and hours to ingrain the action into your muscle memory.

Well I'm 19 now, so I've been bowling off a decent run up and with decent pace for like 3 years. But 2 years ago I f*@#ed my back, and it still wasn't right last year.
I got a one to one bowling lesson off some ECB level 3 coach and they said the reason for injuries, and the loss of a lot of potential pace and outswing, was because my foot landed at angle which caused numerous problems with the biomechanics of the action.

Assuming you are a right arm bowler, is your toe pointing towards the off side or leg side - assuming you bowling to a right-hander? I found mine points to the offside...

if your front foot points to the offside, do you have problems with you front leg "collapsing" and a slightly supect action when you try to bowl fast? I have seen this a few times with younger bowlers.

I think this is probably your best bet at solving this problem. When I find I have problems like this, or I decide to change my action for some reason or another, I tend to start off my using tennis balls. I rock back onto my back foot, lifting my front leg, then rock my weight forward onto my front leg. I repeat this numerous times, slowly increasing in intensity, and I will always 'shadow bowl' when I'm walking around the house. It sounds and looks stupid, I know, but I couldn't care less about looking stupid if I could sort out my action. Maybe you could try that, making sure that you land on your front foot the way you want it to, then work on it at the nets with a small run up.

It should point straight. I think anyways! :-[ I might record myself bowling, as I find it quite hard to pick up on these things unless you watch!

Number4 is right. Easy to say problems.. less easy to suggest fixes and actually correct problems.

Yeah we did a few drills using things like a trampoline and a step but I don't have access to those kind of facilities and was wondering if anyone had anything more basic!
Think I'm just gonna book out a squash court and bowl off a step, 2 steps etc. focusing on the front foot for a few hours at some point next week.

There are quite a few different ways to sort it, and obviously some have more success than others. Where front foot should be though is pretty specific to each bowler and how their action is. Have you got any video of your bowling? Can email you some drills if you PM me!

this helped me sort my problem with this , do this drill but be very careful to make sure your foot points in the correct direction, once you can do it staticly without thinking, half the time between each pose until it builds up to a walk through drill where you walk in and there is no gap between the poses which turn into movements, this should help your pace as well and sort out your front foot.

Not sure if this would help what about using sand or talc on a floor and bowl off a couple of walking paces sand /talc will show where your foot is landing or try stoping in delivery stride and reversing your action
