Title: Aldred Cricket Bats/Stretton Fox
Post by: Aldred Cricket Bats on February 23, 2013, 10:21:02 AM
Exciting times. We have had the great fortune of meeting with Stretton fox and have come up with our own range of thigh guard.  What's different you may ask. Well using my vast experience in both club cricket and my career as a professional cricketer being on the receiving end of the likes of Alan Donald, Courtney Walsh, Shoaib Akhtar, Darren Gough to name but a few ( I wasn't good enough to get out the way) we have evolved a shape of outer and inner thigh pad to give maximum protection whilst maintaining freedom of movement and so lite you will forget your wearing it. This shape is unique to us and will obviously have our classic look about it.
These are in production at the moment and as soon as we get them through we will post some pics and hopefully give some reviews about what some top players think of them.
We will be taking orders and will be ordering a small quantity so keep your eyes open for the pics of what I know will be one of the best products on the market.

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to say thanks to Paul for his time last Friday and that I am delighted Aldred are looking to have "Stretton Fox Inside!!" I will ensure the look is in keeping with the aesthetic and handwriting of Aldred Cricket in order to compliment the range as best as possible, so get your hammers out !!! PS LOVE the shape of the outer thigh, your so covered you may as well have a roman shield in front of the batsman !! :)

Do you have a price point yet?
Title: Re: Aldred Cricket Bats/Stretton Fox

Well othe idea of price is that it is going to be similar if not the same as strettons pads. That's why we have developed our own shape that gives in my opinion the maximum coverage to all styles of player against all standards and style of bowlers. We will be able to offer a bespoke service but his proves to be incredibly expensive to the average player hence we have looked to cover all scenarios in one great set of thigh pads. We will put the prices out on launch.paul

Am waiting for the delivery of our first set like a little kid waiting for Santa. Will post pics as soon as I can with me wearing them with pads so you can see to maximum effect how we have designed them to give great protection in the key areas whilst maintaining freedom of movement. Come on the post man hurry up.  :)

Ok guys they have arrived just taken some quick pics will do some more over the weekend. As you can see I have designed these to cover the areas most players will get hit and then some. These aren't bulky in any way either and once you have moulded them to your shape they sit very snugly to your body and you barely know you have them on. As you will notice on some pics for those who want the extra hip protection I have had a hip pad made to attach if required. I don't personally use one but I must say it doesn't feel bulky in any way.
These are a design that is like having a custom fit as it does really cover virtually everything and are comfy as. Every part of the thigh guards are shaped and contoured to fit snugly around the pads.

As you can see with the last two pics they are not bulky in any way under your clothing in fact they are noticeably smaller in profile than a general thigh pad with more protection.
Will do a video or something over the weekend and get all the prices up. They will be the same as stretton fox anyway.
Hope you like
Paul

Paul they look great together and am delighted at how well they mirror the contours of the batting pads, definitely a compliment to the range !

PS one tip for the hipster is it can be applied prior to the straps and then one of the strap ends attached to really hold it down.

Looking forward to seeing the videos !

Thanks toenails. Yes they are superb and am over the moon with the way stretton have put my concepts into production. These are better than anything I came across not only in my 10 years as a professional cricketer but at anytime before during my 7 years travelling the country trialing at different counties. These are shaped to suit every type of player and will have a long life span. Yes they do initially look expensive but with the protection they give and the years of use you will have they are great value for money. There is nothing better than having a piece of kit that once you have worn it in becomes a part of you. These have the ability to be moulded to suit your body shape so they customise themselves to you. A very personal piece of kit.
Get in touch guys orders are being taken.
Will do some pics over the weekend and will do the mallet test for you . I have a stooge on stand by

Luke has been to pick up his thigh pads ready for his unicorns nets. He is over the moon with them. Will get him padded up tomorrow and take some pics and set the mallet loose on him as I am coaching him tomorrow. Luke is taller than me he is about 6ft and design of the thigh pads is still more than sufficient and will suit tall players too as it covers lots of leg and hip. The hip bone is not so vulnerable with taller players due to ball angles. I can't get over how perfect these have come out I knew they would be good but they have astounded even me.happy days

It's certainly not fun, and hurts a darn site more than a proper ball.. Got a bruise on my thigh that's still there after 3 weeks!

You should see the back of my right thigh I think I'd have a pad made up for there if I did that test again. But all the parts that get hit when your actually batting are covered perfectly. First time I've stood there without a bat in hand you feel quite insecure have done it without pads hundreds of times no worries.

Had some good fun testing the new stretton Fox/aldred thigh guard set at the weekend. Hows the leg paul? lol sorry about that!! though you did get me a couple of times when batting!! so revenge was served up!!
In regards to the guards I couldnt be more happier with them. Really light weight and didnt feel as though you had them on. No restriction in movement when batting and setting off for runs. Top quality protection aswell. Got hit a couple of times in the net on the thigh and there is no bruise to show for it which is great as im sick of having bruises through my old thigh guard. Also copped one in the unmentionables!!!! Also a real stylish look to them that really is inkeeping with the rest of the Aldred range of equipment. Easy to manipulate to suit by holding it in the position for few minutes and the shape of the guard was changed.
100% worth the the extra money as these will be in my kit bag for at least the next 10 years. Top quality piece of equipment!!!
Bring on the season!!!!

Glad you like. You may need to make one to cover up my right hamstring if you want me to do that again George. Managed to let one miss everything. That's what you get for not batting properly I suppose and not having an Aldred weapon of destruction in hand ie a bat. Anyway hopefully be in touch soon
