I saw on sports direct a training bat that is half the width but the weight of a normal bat. I said about it to my old man and his response was "cut up your old one and add some lead to it"
Does anyone know if this would work or would it be a waste of a bat and some lead?
If the consensus is that it's not as stupid an idea as it sounded to me I will post pictures of the results. What do you guys recon then, give it a go or just buy one of the training aids?

Ive added wood before. Sticking anything weighty to the back helps to compensate for cutting the sides off i guess.

It would be quite a fun thing to try! Not sure if you could use staples for something like this though! ;)

Funny you should mention that, was thinking of covering the back of the bat with them to add weight! ;)

Do this instead though, you will not be disappointed. I love my middling bat, and use it to play tennis ball cricket in the attic with my brother. :)

yes, the lead tape works well. You can't use most the technique bats that are on the market for anything other than tennis balls.I took 3/4" of either side and put one strip of lead tape down both edges, top to bottom, then a second half length inside the first by the sweet spot and covered them with tape. The bat was exactly the same weight as before and it felt just the same on the pickup. great for nets because you can use regular balls.
