Title: Kit Bag
Post by: chaudhari21 on March 04, 2013, 03:33:50 AM
What kit bags would you guys recommend. I am in search for a new bag. Just decided this tonight I think my Slazenger holdall has seen its last days. Please post pictures of you bag if you really like it that would help. I have read some reviews of GM Original LE Duplex which looks pretty good.

I'm a keeper to and have always struggled to find a durable bag that's big enough to fit my kit in, anyways I went for the newbery tour stand up bag and its unbelievable good mate. Still room for more kit and I could fit another 3 bats in it haha!
The duplex has mixed views mate however I've never thought it would be big enough if your a keeper?

I agree with Tony on the GM bag, I had one and couldn't fit all my keeping kit and a helmet in there so ended up having to carry the lid separately. Have an Ayrtek bag now which ticks all the boxes for me

Slazenger V1200 stand up wheelie bag is awesome, enough room for 12 orphans or all of the average forumites kit!

Getting your keeping kit in is a nightmare! I've got an old Newbery SPS which is ok, looking at the Duplex or the Kook Pro Players I think it's called, anyone got these?

Mines falling apart slowly so might have to get a new one. I think the ideal bag for me would be about the size of a small car!

I've got the 2012 Kookaburra Pro 1000 and it's a cracking bag. So much room you'd fit all your kit in it no worries. I assume as the 2013 one is just as big it will be just as good. I've moved on to a Arytek bag and so far it's pretty good. I've managed to fit pads, 4 x gloves, 3rd bat, Stretton foxs thigh, inner, chest and arm guards, spikes, rubbers, 3 x socks, 2 x t shirts, 2 jumpers, 2 trousers, wash kit, balls and spare assorted crap, helmet, warm up training kit and still not run out of room. It's getting full at that point I'll admit but defo plenty of space.

Get the biggest bag from sportsdirect as they are cheap and they are also the cheapest shipping option to US/canada...

If you don't mind paying for shipping (abt $100) then newbery tour is very big...does not have padded bat pockets but i think for someone with 1 or 2 bats, batting and keeping kit its a good size..

Yeah the two things I am interested in is a bat pocket. I usually keep three bats so that will be important. The other is making sure no rain gets into the bag at all. One time my bag got caught in the rain and my stuff was soaked. Thanks for all of your help.

I am not a keeper so that won't be a problem. Does it have a separate pockets for helmets and shoes and your wet cloths. That is kind of important. However if the shipping is a $100 bucks that will kind of make it tough for me to get.

Thats very funny. The one problem I have had with their bags is that the zipper seems to break. That is what happened to my last two bags. Does it have separate pockets for stuff or just the two on the sides.

Ahh right mate as far as I'm aware the tour bag doesn't have a helmets compartment however you get dividers on the bag so you can compartment it off if you'd like!
Regarding the bat sleeve not being padded I agree with tush however I just put my bat in a full length padded bat cover and in the main bit of the bag and its fine however I only have one bat but simmy in his video could fit in 6-7 bats then his keeping kit aswell!

Tour has one very large compartment, has a side bat pocket that is not padded but you can squeeze two bats in there and then a few other pockets big and small to fit other stuff...shipping from UK on any bag will be very expensive unless you go to bigger sites like sportsdirect.

I usually carry pads, 2 sets of gloves, helmet, thigh guard, shoes, stupid amount of bats and multiple other things like ball, grips, tape etc in it and its alright...

Some interesting advice here. We are about to do a piece on choosing a bag in fact. So important that it's big enough for all your stuff as it's amazingly annoying to have to carry and extra bag. Although, some are bordering on too big for the car boot!

I am surprised that no one has created a build-a-bag design, where you can add or remove sections as required through velcro/zip/buckle/other connection mechanism. I feel this would be a popular choice if you could get it to work well.

not everyone needs a giant bag - there are a few topics on "what do you take to games" - I just have the salix duffle bag everything fits and there is plenty of room left in the car for the rest of the family, the pram, the changing bag, the wife, both kids and the kids cricket equipment!!

As for all the different sections - I have my boots in a bag, take a bag for the wet kit and towel and stuff it all in and take it out afterwards... I am all for taking up less room in the changing room!!

I have to agree with Buzz, this year I'll be using a duffle after swapping through a few big bags last year I don't think theres much of an advantage unless your a keeper.

As long as your organised with your kit and take an extra minute to pack your kit, it all goes in a duffle.

especially if it is all organised into softpockets ;) cough

I was going to put that but didn't want to make a point of it lol.

It does make it far easier IMO if everything is kept in either there original bags, or designer SoftPockets. Really helps to keep everything together in a duffle. I will get pictures of my full kit once I get a couple of bats back from Mr RK. It will need to be viewed with sunglasses as it's rather bright!

Thanks for the help. I typically carry two bats one pair of pads three sets of gloves. My helmet towel my shoes two pairs of socks 4 cricket balls (superstition) guard , thigh guard and a pair sandals. So dont need a massive bag but something sturdy. Thanks for all your help. I ll look into all of this. I think i have an idea. I definitely not paying for 100 for shipping so i ll look local.

If you want a massive bag, check out the Willostix Anaconda bag bloody massive, has the bat sleeves for 2 bats. I am a keeper and it fits my batting stuff, keeping stuff, lid whites, spikes and trainers and then 3 outside pockets for bits Nd pieces.

Does anyone know how many bats the Choice Templar bag holds?

And has anyone got the SAF double decker? It looks brilliant, but would love a review.
