Me and Ryan have been discussing me getting a new blade off him for quite some time now, and I finally decided to stop being a little tease and get one from him! He 'whatsapped' me some pictures across and a picked a cheeky cleft. Got to say he kept me in the loop about everything, sent me pictures of it through shaping the works. Top bloke to deal with.
Now on to the bat, it started life as a little cleft, was fairly light from my understanding and has turned into a belting bat, a lot of wood for the weight! It was 2'9.5 without a grip, and Ryan put one of his hyrbrid bad boys on it, undecided whether or not I'll use that grip or a GM one yet!
The bat picks up unbelievably, I'm not one for caring to much about pick up, because I close my eyes when I bat anyway, but it doesn't feel at all 2.9 picks up a lot lighter to me. It's got 8 grains, straight enough for my liking, and evenly spaced across the face. 7 -10 grains is perfectly fine for me so more than happy. Now from the pictures you may think the middle is mid - high, which some of the middle is, but it extents so far down the blade it baffles me. Response is getting better after half hours knocking in (I (No Swearing Please) you not) and I hate to think what it would be capable of in a decent batsmens hands! I'll be giving it a good go on Monday after a few more hours of neighbor annoying (knocking in) this week.
I haven't got any pictures of my own at the moment because the camera has decided to play hide and seek at the moment, it's leading proceedings! So there's just a couple from Ryan that he sent me on the telephone!
I will obviously update this as the weeks go on and as the bat has more knocking in and use. I can't believe Ryan doesn't demand a higher price for his services. He's got top skills, and I'm very pleased with the bat. Cannot wait to get in the nets with it. This is what's know as a naughty naughty stick!
I will get more pictures ASAP!

I agree with your sentiments and have picked this bat up myself I use 2lb 8oz and could easily use it
Tom it very nearly stayed in Yorkshire wink wink
TOp bat and top service
-
Cheers Dave, I know you messaged me when you'd seen it as you thought it was very nice.
Everyone who's picked it up has said it's special, a couple of mates have come round today said it looked unreal
-
Looks a beaut Tom, was the shape a compromise or a direct copy of your H4L?
It'll be good to see a direct comparison when you hunt your camera down!
Definetly going to be visiting Ryan for a copy bat in the future I think!
-
It looks a first class job.
I love the branding. SO simple, elegant, and classy.
Good work Ryan.

Ended up going away from the hattori shape in the end mate, and Ryan took some more wood from the toe and it feels class. Not a lot of concaving either, so it's not one of these big edges ones with a shark fin.

Really is a first class job mate, that's the only words that would come close to summing it up

Whenever i get a date arranged to visit my friend who lives in Wakefield, i'll be popping in for a cheeky custom bat of my own. Lovely weapon Wilkie.

Looks a top stick mate hope you get to use it

That is a beautiful stick! Wouldn't mind getting hold of one of them! I don't know if you like talking about prices but would you be able to IM me how much roughly a bat like this would cost from Ryan?

Looks like a great bat that. Finishing and stickers look really classy. What grade is that? Grade 1? Whatever it is it looks a bargain, Ryan looks to be making some really quality bats!
-
Thanks for the review Tom! Always nice to hear positive feedback.
-

people asking about grading this bat is a G1 but its very responsive!
-
What simster said!
Been knocking this in some more today, and it's going to be a real cracker, looking forward to using it in the nets/bowling machine on Monday
-
Hi Thomas,
This is lovely
Thanks
Mark
-
Looks like a ripper of a bat. Great profile and pretty big for the weight. An RK "Wilkie" is now on the list... ;)
-
Just a slight update on this, given it around an hour and half knocking in all together and it's coming on nicely. Very nicely pressed and will take a little while more to knock in but it should become a beauty. Looking forward to giving her a run out on Monday night.
Cheers again Ryan!

Dear Wilkie
Your pictures are rubbish. Please do them as well as Ryans with lots of profile / angled shots.
Love Nick

Hi all,
My RK custom turned up yesterday so thought I would add to this thread.
I wasn't overly particular with what I wanted from Ryan, G1, high middle, oval handle around 2.10. Not fussed about specific edge or spine heights.
Anyway, I chose a cleft from some photos and a few weeks later it turned up. My initial thoughts are that it is exactly what I wanted and very similar to my GT 335 which is my current match bat, although the RK has more of an offset edge/middle thing going on. I have tapped it up with a mallet and the response is good with what seems to be quite a long middle. Looking forward to getting her ready for a proper hit.

Really looking forward to proper hit with my one.
-
You'll love it mate, given mine around 3/4 hours knocking in and it felt very nice the balls I hit with it!
Pure RK lovin'
-
I shall join the party soon when I get delivery of my whee beastie from ryan.

As you can see if used this a few times now, used it for a couple of hundred balls on the bowling machine to finish knocking it in, and used it in a couple of net sessions to see how she goes. Goes very well and I'm pleased with it for sure. This bat and the Vulcan I've got will be fighting it out for top spot if and when the H4L finally departs! Still obviosly needs a bit of playing in but it's a goer.
Cheers for the bat Ryan, and if anyone else's goes as well as mine does then you'll be very pleased indeed.
-
Lovely bat tom cani get a set of that colour stickers best rk stickers them for me.....
-
Must admit I do like these stickers the most! lol.
Was hoping to have another blast with it tonight but the heavens have opened :(
