Title: Light enhancing glasses
Post by: wilkie113 on March 15, 2013, 10:17:33 PM
As we all know, some of the early T20 midweek games are always a bit gloomy with the nights drawing in a bit short.
I went through a stage of wearing these a while back, but can't remember if they benefited or not?

Anyone else use them?

Opinions boys!

I use them a fair bit and I love them. They really do help as well. Many a team mate took the micky until I told them to wear them for an over or two and suddenly they went out and brought some.

I personally found I had to do some training for catching etc initially as I felt it made it seem that little bit closer than it was BUT  within an hour or two of fielding training I'd naturally sorted it.

recommendation is to get some!

They are helpful, an easier solution is a pink ball though, the midweek league we sponsor and administrate uses pink balls, i play in it too and they work brilliantly. :)

I think there sticking with red balls for next year, it's normally just an old match ball. We never use a new nut.

May invest in a pair see what occurs! I struggle picking it up indoor sometimes too, so might sport them in an indoor net too

In the few games I've played in that use Pink balls they are indeed easy to see. However, they are absolute rubbish! Destroyed easily and swing very little. They go soft really quickly too.

These were the more expensive pinks so I was told so not just cheap rubbish. I would put it down to just hte day but once a guy had 'lost' the pink thing I got to use an old red ball and swung it around loads.. having had 2 overs with the pink crap and not moving it an inch.

Hold off buyign some. I'm on the hunt for a nice new pair of cricket sunnies so my GN ones will be spare. Perfectly fine, not damage to them etc. Just fancy some new ones

They were the 2011 Pro Performance ones if you want to look them up :)

We tested Pink balls from Hunts, Readers, Kook, Tiflex and others. Many of them, especially the cheaper ones were hard and didn't swing.

A couple of the better ones fared much better and were comparable to a decent red ball.

As a general rule, anything being sold at a tenner or less was pretty ropey.

I assumed they were crap ones but the guy said they weren't the 'cheap ones'. Who knows, I didn't buy them so have no idea other than that. Just my experience with them.

We used a orange dukes one a few years ago, was a bullet off the bat, good seam and kept it's shape

They help wilkie and pink balls help too.

Jake we have been using pink tiflex for 2 seasons with no issues, swings about the same as a white ball

Agreed, great ball.

We play with their top of the range red ball in our Saturday league.

We use both pink and orange balls in our sunday leagues and midweek games and i can honestly that they are rock hard! Gun out of the middle of the bat but dont get much else from them if anywhere else on the bat!

But back to the topic of light enhancing sunnies, i have tried them and they do brighten everything up very well however i just personally cant wear sunglasses in the field. Don't know why just dont like the feel of them. If you can wear sunnies in the field or do wear normal sunnies when fielding then i would reccommend getting some light enhancing lenses as from when i have worn them normally they have made everything much brighter.
