Hi all,
Think that I am gonna indulge in a new pair of batting pads as my 8/9 year old Slazenger ones are looking a bit past their best!! :( :(
As I will be playing a reduced amount of games this year due to daughter number 2 arriving last October, I am looking to spend no more than £50 (incl p & p)
I am not keen on purchasing from any of the mainstream/traditional manufacturers.... 8)
The ones that I am considering at the moment are:-
SF (Platinum 2013 or Sapphire 2013)
SS/Ton (Limited Edition 2013 or 309-Rock 2013)
Any thoughts on these or some other options would be great, ideally want to decide and pay tonight so they could get here by the weekend so I can use them in our final indoor net session on sunday!! :) :D
Thanks in advance!!!!
-
We have 30% off of our Premier range currently making them £53.49 in total but happy to round down to £50 inc P&P as a forum member :)

Thanks!! :D
Will add them to the mix/list!! :D
Would match my bat cover?! ???
-
I think that's a stonking deal.
-
I think that's a stonking deal.
Indeed it is,however there are many factors to consider, hence it is in the mix!!! :D :D :D ;) ;)
-
Can do some newbery thruxton pads for £55 inc delivery
-
Cant go wrong with Uzi Sports Green Mamba pads - top quality for a bargain...
-
Off to bed now,no decision/purchase made.......sleeping on the sofa never helps!! ???
Going to order by lunchtime tomorrow so ANY thoughts between now and then that help me decide would be great!?
-
The ayrtek elite pads are top top notch got that price.
Personally think you'd be silly not to get them
-
Will have to revisit them in the morning as can't see the image on the iPad?!
What makes these such a good pad/buy?
-
Really comfy top end protection, and the price I'd very good.
The ones I had were too big and I should haven gotten youths, but were still a top pad
-
How tall are you then(not being personal!!)??
-
5ft3/4 maybe smaller, I wear youths or small men's
-
That's a great deal on the Ayrteks. They look like quality pads. Just a shame shipping pads O/S costs an arm and a leg...
-
If purchasing outside of EU we would knock another 20% vat off them making them cheaper, if u want a specific quote for shipping cost let me know as we have to put a default price in via the website to cover ourselves.
-
Any further advice/thoughts out there?
Want to sort by lunchtime......
Thanks guys! 8)
-
Newbery GT335 from rematch sports are priced at £66 and are a bargain really!
-
I will mirror the comments made about TomTeks pads. Excellent gear. Great pads, very comfortable and Top level protection as you'd expect. You'd be a plonker not to speak to Tom especially with the offer he's made you
-
The Ayrteks getting a few 'votes'....any thoughts on the SF and SS/Ton options??!! 8)
-
Dave (procricket) will be able to help you out on those mate. I think he has tried on/owned every single pad every made ;)
-
Anyone got a link to better pics of the Ayrtek premier pads??!!

Anyone?! ???
-
Give people a chance mate, it's work time for most people.
Have a look through the Ayrtek section, some people would have done reviews I imagine. Sure Tom will email you a couple of pics over or something if you need to :)
-
I do realise that it is working hours......but there were 200 on the forum at the time,so just wanted it to appear back in the recent topics at a good time!!?? ???
Did try and search first but it kept coming up with an error!?
Have messaged Tom in the meantime!!
Thanks!! ;)

these are the Elite pads Ewan, I have emailed your some pictures of the Premier pads that are made to the same spec but have a different appearance on the front panels but same knee locator and protection on the rear.
Hopefully pics are with you now, apologies for the 4mb photo size only one i could find atm!

Did you send them to my ewan68@btinternet.com addresss?
-
yes i think so it was quite a large attachment, as you emailed my personal account i didn't alert me to the email coming so apologies for the delayed reply!
-
not sure how I mailed your email...thought I messaged via here!!??
do you have any pairs with black rather than red 'logos'??
I know it is a minor detail.......but part of the decision making process for this (and most purchases!) is based
on look etc!?? :D
-
ill have to check, give me 5 mins and ill delve through the selection we have!
-
we have 5 pairs in mens RH that have the black logo's as per the images below....

They also have the soft backed straps so that they dont dig into your legs which is always a nice touch...

The ayrtek pads are really nice, I had a pair of the green ones and really liked them. I won new pads on here last year or else I'd still be using them. My brother has them now and he thinks they're good.
As Tom says the padded straps are good, I also liked the sort of split thing with the middle strap that these and a lot of other pads have as it makes them wrap around well. They're also comfy and lighter than others - I certainly preferred them to the GM LE D30 pads that I had previously.
-
Decisions,decisions.......this forum will be the death of me!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Really like these overall...however I REALLY like the 'minimalist' look of the SF Sapphire ones...

And now found a cracking deal on some SG Test pads and gloves!!??? (any views on these??!!) :o :o 8)

Can tell you're at work if you're accidently putting Salesforce links up (rubbish CRM by the way)
Try the link again mate
-
You would be mad not to follow the Ayrtek black pair at that price mate. Top looking pads, made well, and a forum sponsor. What more could you be looking for?
-
so you have made tom go into the store room search through stock dig out the pads hes taken photos for you?
and your not even sure you want them?
nothing like wasting some bodys time

Thats a little harsh on someone trying to make up his mind mate, I am sure Tom was happy to do that as he has always maintained highest of customer service standards. When someone asks for pics there is no obligation to buy is there...if there was I would have a house full of Aldred gear as I have pestered Paul many times and it just shows how good the service and the man is as I have never heard him complain once or even take an indirect dig at me (which some others have)
-
not harsh at all
spend 1 min looking on the forum and u will find.....

fair enough...although I still think its ok to ask for pics with the intention of making up your mind....

If you look on one of my earlier posts on this, you will notice that i did try searching but there was an issue with the search facility at the time.!!!
With regards to wasting Tom's time....firstly,I have not wasted anyone's time until I have decided what I am going to do(at this point I may well still buy them from Tom).
secondly,I have made it clear from the beginning that I am undecided.
Thirdly,at the beginning i made it clear that I had to be mindful of cost,so if,whilst comparing my options,i stumble across what appears to be a cracking deal,I see nothing wrong with looking for opinions on here.
I appreciate that you are being mindful of Tom's valuable time, but equally, there is nothing wrong with me being thorough.....
The reason that Tom ended up going to seek out the pads with black rather red logos was that he sent pics with both, the website had black so I was unsure and requested clarification, which Tom willingly sorted(thanks Tom)
Hope this is all clear and resolves this issue!!! :) :) :) :) ;)
-

Thanks for the morale support!!! :D :D
-
Its fair enough to look around at all the options! From a personal stand point I dont think you will find better value than the ayrtek ones.
Hadnt you said you were going to buy by lunchtime anyway?

Had hoped to,but circumstances (and my chronic indecisiveness!!) have conspired to thwart me!!!!
Definitely hope to order before I get to bed,in the vain hope that whatever I go for can be despatched tomorrow and arrive before sunday!!!! ???
-
Happy to help, luckily the black logo ones weren't buried too deep so made it easy enough to find.
if you do opt for a pair we can dispatch them if ordered today/tomorrow for delivery on Friday but weekend delivery costs a bomb with any courier and wouldnt rely on royal mail to make a Saturday delivery in all honesty.
i have nets tonight at 8pm and am manic sorting out travel arrangements for various things so drop me an email at tom@ayrtek.com if you do want some.

Tom,thanks for all the help/understanding etc on this!!
Will let you know if I go for yours!! ;) ;)

Looks like the SG package is a non runner......positive Red Herring really, should have known it would be too good to be true!!!
So,as I REALLY want to sort this out tonight......any last thoughts??

So..............please help (based on on performance and looks please!!) :D :D :D 8)
-
I Personally love the look of the white and gold SF pads
-
depends what you want, your the one buying them and using them at the end of the day
-
depends what you want, your the one buying them and using them at the end of the day
I know!!!!
That is what makes it so hard!!
Want style and substance at the best value...
If only I could get my hands on a pair of each!! (to compare)
Thanks for the input so far,any more that helps me decide will be much appreciated!!! :D :D
-
I would still recommend Ayrtek over the other options, Ayrtek just look so much better
-
Think you've recieved plenty of suggestions regarding the ayrteks, so plump for them
Sure you wont regret it
Or better still, buy them all
-
Yes,the Ayrteks are getting the majority of 'votes',not sure whether there might be a little bit of CBF loyalty coming to the fore here(absolutely no offence Tom!!!!)
I do like them and think that they are definitely a quality pad at a great price.
The flip side is that I reallly like the others as well, particularly the Sapphires.
Just struggling to make the final decision....
Oh well,better head home to find a bullet to bite!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

If you like Sapphires just as much as Ayrteks and think Ayrtek are getting votes because of the forum then go with Sapphires. I haven't used either but on looks only Ayrteks look better to me...
also keep in mind that if you get SF and don't like them you will have a harder time getting rid of them compared to if you got Ayrtek and didn't like those...not that it should influence your decision...
-
Draw it out of a hat and put an end to this tedium! ;)
-
Flip it on its head. You like them all so won't be disappointed.
You will never know what the others will be like so shouldn't have any regrets.
So take the Ayrteks :)
-
IMO the sapphires look nice the gold makes it look a bit tacky
The SS dont like the shape of them and they dont look quite as good
Ayrtek and Platinum look fairly similar
But for sheer customer service and and recommendations, got to be ayrtek
-
OK,one final observation....
Is it me,or does the shin bit on th SF Platinums come quite a bit further down than the Ayrteks thus protecting the ankles a bit more??
If so,any thoughts?
Thnx ;)
-
I have a set of Ayrteks, absolutely fantastic pad, second season in with them, and they are brillint, comfy and very lightweight with good protection. GO FOR THEM ;) lol
-
I had the same problem till I went to my local shop he had the new tt pads and gloves I tried the pads on and felt very nice a bit heavy but nice I looked at others and decided to go with the tt gloves and pads and got them for a very good price a ton for both witch I was happy to pay the green not every ones cup off tea but they are well built
-
AAARRRRGGGHHHH....epic fail again last night!!! >:( >:(
I realise that you are all getting a little bored of this thread,so......
My choice is simple:--
SF Platinum pads for £45 delivered or add gloves for £69 all in
or
Ayrtek Premier pads for £50 delivered
Thoughts(polite ones only please!!!) ??? ??? ???
-
Ayrtek. I like Tom.
-
Both good.
Buy the ones you like. People have given advice over 4 pages pal, just go with the ones you prefer. If you need gloves, buy SF. If you are happy with just pads, buy Ayrtek.
Just choose a pair.
-
£69 for pads & gloves is a reasonable price. But I presume the gloves won't have genuine pittards.
-
My personal opinion is go with Ayrtek's, as I don't really like the look of the SF's and you have many people who highly recommend the Ayrtek's quality :)
-

no idea, not sure how big a deal that is??!! ??? ???
-
I don't think that it will make too much difference, just the quality of the glove. You get what you pay for I guess! I had some gloves for £25 and were one of my favourite pair of gloves.
-
For my two pence worth you wanted pads so I would go with the Ayrtek pads, look better quality and I prefer their branding over SF (SF are bit too loud for my tastes).
-
Well,conclusion was reached... :o :o
Went for the SF pads and gloves as decided I wanted matching softs again!!.
I realise some people were not big fans of the SF styling/colours,but I do like them!! :D :D
Decided that I could fund a little bit of the transaction by selling the gloves that I am replacing...so watch out for a pair of Choice Willow gloves on here,in pretty good nick, used (with inners) for one season and a couple of nets..... ;)
Thanks for all of the input, now be gentle with me!! ???
