Smith's look tad similar to my B3 but has elongated middle.

Bow, is it me but second seem to have more concaving. Must be camera angle..

Camera angle Cd, neither are concaved.

For some reason I'm thinking smiths, it was taken on 11-10-11 !!!

Too heavy for him pal  :-[

Oh right.

I find it wired how Smith wears those old GM pads in games but in nets I think he wears the newer ones.

I have to give Laver SIgnature a shot before I retire from the game.

Not sure what to get I want something slight different from the my norm.

I can and guess I have used 3lb bats but prefer 2-8 and under but with a slightly higher middle.

Not overly keen on concaving this time and want the spine if higher only just than the edges the tour intrigues me

The cleft has been chosen hand handled now and the desired shape told it's time for the maker and hid magic and skill

Looking forward to this went for the jaywardene shape

The Jaywardene profile is fairly similar in principle to the Newbery Thruxton where the spine is not massively higher than the edges with very little concaving. I really like the way my Thruxton plays and it's currently my match bat.

Indeed it is mate I like the idea as I stated bud want the spine similar to the edges in night and I asked for a straight toe not into the rounded ones

Re-Clarke's profile.
I had a Warsop made similar a few years back.

It was a good bat but the low bounce didn't suit the thin toe. It felt as it was permanently jarring. Not a pleasant experience as I only had 1 bat.

Clarke's profile may be 'condition specific'.

It a interesting though however I hearing less and less players are now changing there bats due to conditions recent studies have found it more the player than the conditions.

The clarke picture is of him vs Sri Lanka on home soil.

The crictech sheet has a lot of sense to it if people tried it no so much the pitch but more the technique and also the hight of the player and how they play

Ian bell did a good interview about his bats and the minimal changes he makes from English conditions to sub continent conditions..

Good tekkers

Yeh nice shape. I asked Paul at IJC to pick me a Thruxton 5 Star after seeing that thread. Mine's not much of a looker but definitely a great performer.

How did you get on with the cric tech sheets Dave? I seem to hit the ball in 2 separate spots.
Title: Re: Toying with what bat shape to try next
Post by: procricket on March 24, 2013, 04:16:36 PM
I hit the ball him up the blade much higher than I though mate based on my low centre of gravity and my technique of playing as late as possible

Surely what bat shape you go for is dependant on what style of shots you play? I look at the Thruxton style "flat bat" and would think that it would suit nudging around fast bowlers from within the crease. Large swells at the bottom suit aggressive batters who come down and hit over the top.

I don't see how you can choose a different profile on looks, surely it must relate to how you play?

Banksy

As a bat hoarder and trier I know what your saying but for any bat to break into my bag has to be to me special and I love trying different things out hence why I asked there not many I have not tried but went for something different

Probably not of help, as you have already decided with your purchase, but perhaps a future purchase could be similar! 8)
