Evening lads,
Having just spent the last 6 1/2 months in australia abusing my body by drinking to much, eating to much and such. I need to get back into shape after it, and wondered what was the best way to start a regime again, if it helps I do a very manual job in working on a pig farm, so that helps as well.

Get back into it nice and slow, you don't want to end up making too many drastic changes all at once.
As your already doing a fair amount of manual labour i'd imagine there is alot of lifting/moving things around etc....so perhaps hit the gym about 2-3 times in the week do some cardio (treadmill/stair master) or circuit based workouts (loads of circuits on Youtube)
Try to cut out as many processed foods as possible, focus on whole grains/protein/fiber/healthy fat (salmon, avacado walnuts etc...)
& drink plenty of water to detox that body!!! lol
Hope this helps

look up convict conditioning on the internet................ all you need to get fit !

if your already doing labour maybe throw in a run 3 times a week but most important thing would be diet, take out simple carbs like white bread, pastas, and rice. Instead eat veggies and wholegrains. Also have a good amount of lean meats. And drink lots of water.
(have a cheat day once a week if you need it).

Twice a week only eat one meal in a day with 18 hours between feeds.
You will lose a lot of weight in 1 month.
There are several variations but on is called EAT STOP EAT.
There are other benefits besides weight loss like cleaning your gut, reducing insulin levels and all sorts if you read the hype. There was also a bbc horizon tv show about it and all of this was proved to be correct.

Another well known term for this is Intermittent Fasting (or IF)

I'm also trying to loose some weight these days , I drink couple extra strong coffees (three spoons of coffee at once ) a day and I can stay without eating all day until dinner. Extra strong taste puts my appetite off.
I guess this isn't a good thing to do long term so I'm gonna start on some weight loose shakes after I loose some weight.

I've been on a bit of a health kick over the last 6 weeks or so. Really tried hard to alter my diet and cut out biscuits/crisps, etc and replace with fruit. As well as this as I can't stand the gym or running I've been walking a lot more - usually at least 2 miles a day with my dog but an extra 4 miles when I walk to work 3 times a week. Nothing amazing I know but I feel a lot better already and have lost over half a stone so far.
Just started using myfitnesspal on iphone too and that's really good, helps when trying to stick to a sensible number of calories to lose weight.

Weight loose shakes sound a wee bit shady mate. What are they exactly?
Using coffee to keep hunger at bay is an essential strategy for a lot of people into intermittent fasting. Other than dry mouth for some coffee hasn't really been proved to cause any harm at all. So if it works for you I'd stick with it. One thing to look into if you are drinking a ton of coffee is to go organic. Beans are awesome!
One IF protocol I have used in the past that worked really well was lean gains. 8 hour feeding windows everyday. Protein and carbs on work out days. Fats and protein on rest days. Simple and powerful. Fat loss + muscle gain.
And +1 on convict conditioning. Thought it was a little too dramatic but it is a great primer on progressive bodyweight exercises.

^ One of my mates suggested a shake called slim-fast after he heard about my starving.
I have done this type of starving about two years ago and I lost lot of weight simply by keeping it to one meal a day . But I was eating a big meal for dinner so It took about 6 months for me to get back to shape . But I gained weight soon after I started eating normally.(I eat a lot normally)
This time I'm going to be sensible and do some workout along with my starving.

Don't starve mate. The beautiful thing about intermittent fasting is you can eat as many meals as you can within the eight hour window. On some days I'd manage three. But some days only two because of work/travel etc. So I'd snack on some nuts in between.

I've just started the Insanity workout. Appropriately named!

How is Insanity? I visit the US fairly regularly and this is advertised for hours at a time on a number of channels. It looks tough!

In all honesty it's very hard, I'm really struggling to keep up with the workouts but I'm only 4 days in ;-) My body is aching in ways I never thought possible, but I'm determined to see it through.
I'm also really enjoying the nutrition guide - it's opened my eyes to portion control and how much (No Swearing Please) I was eating.
It's also a real mental challenge - are you up for it?

Have you tried yoga to aid recovery and flexibility?
I've just been wrapped on the knuckles for not doing it! Apparently it's amazing for recovery.

Yeah, I know it's bit pricey but I guess when you compare to a couple of months gym membership then it's not too bad.
