Title: My new SS LE
Post by: Vic Nicholas on March 31, 2013, 09:49:18 AM
I just purchased a new bat from Ajit onlinestockist.com ...and what a bat he has sent me!

I ordered an SS LE as I like the one that I got early last year.

I photographed both bats together so you can see the slight differences (of which I will explain shortly):

As you can see, this years 2013 model has the rounded toe compared the square toe of the early 2012 model.

Now for the specifics:

2012 SS LE

Weight: 2.8
Edge size: 37mm
Width: 105mm
Grains: 12 to 15

2013 SS LE

Weight 2.8-2.9 (haven't weighed it yet)
Edge size: 40mm
Width: 108mm
Grains: 8 to 9

The reason why I have included width of the face was a thread from this forum which showed that not all bats are the standard 108mm, so I measured them both. The new bat just looks a monster all round from the 40mm edges and the standard 108mm face compared to the still impressive 37mm edges and 105mm face on the earlier 2012 model.

The pick up and the ping on both bats is very, very good - as you would expect from an SS bat.

If any members have any questions, fire away!

Ton branded on both bats.

I cover them with extratec as I hate it when they get smudged from edges.

Thanks mate.

I must say, it is by sheer luck.

The first bat was purchased by a Sikh mate of mine as gift to me when he was back home visiting his relatives in Punjab. And it is a corker!

The second one I bought online from onlinestockist.com and I made no special requests beyond it being the lightest bat he had in stock. He sent me this 9 grain 40mm edge monster that still weighs circa 2.8.

I am totally staggered if this is the usual quality of SS bats.

I have top of the line Gray Nicolls, GM Icons LE's and you know what? These are better...both cosmetically and performance wise.

To think that for years I avoided Asian bats because I was labouring under the impression that they were naff quality! What a fool I have been!

Lovely looking bat.
Saw the pics online stockist had on fb of the LE. Some of them looked really good. Can't go wrong with the price either, probably 100 cheaper than buying it from the uk

looks like a really nice bat.

I have been on that site before, filled up my basket then bottled it as it looks very very dodgy to me.

Is it ok?

I have ordered:

2009 - BDM Pads, BDM gloves
2011 - SF Impressive Bat
2012 - SS Pads, SS gloves
2013 - SS LE bat

...and Ajit has delivered excellent quality stuff each time.

Dodgy?

Never had a problem myself.

The first three orders all took circa 2 weeks each. This last order arrived exactly a week after placing the order.

I am a big fan of OLS and will always order from there.

Have also ordered 3 times from Ajit - 12 days from order to my door (London) always amazingly packed - bats have been superb (SS LE) all softs are also superb and very competitively priced. Would recommend highly. Shipping is also very good value.

Were the softs a standard men's size or more small men's? That's my worry if I buy softs from him.

I think he gets them in an Indian mens. Which equates as small mens to us.

Pads are normal.

Gloves are Indian men's which might pose a problem to those who have big hands.

The gloves fit me, snugly, but still fit. But I have average sized hands.
