Title: RK custom 2.10
Post by: LEACHY48 on April 01, 2013, 01:31:37 PM
Hi guys, so about a month or so ago I contacted John from Red ink, and Ryan about getting a new bat. Given that Ryans price was slightly better I opted for an RK. Ryan shot me over some pics of clefts to choose from, and I picked one out and gave him my specs.

These were:
2.10-2.11 max
Trott profile
No concaving
Mid extended middle
30 mm edges
55 mm spine

I also asked ryan to fit a lamitoe and he said it wasnt an issue.

So about 3 weeks later, the bat arrived, and I was initially very pleased with the shape, and the response, however the finishing wasnt brilliant, it was almost like the bat had got wet. So I messaged ryan, and he apologised and offered me some grips as an apology, which I thought was a brilliant gesture. I have given it a few hours knocking in, and it is feeling brilliant, it has a very long responsive middle, and a brilliant pick up and balance.

Overall:
finishing: 5 or 6 /10
performance 9/10
balance and pick up 10/10
looks: 9/10 has 10 ruler straight grains, would have been a 10/10 but there are four tiny pin knotts.

I am extremely happy with the bat, and now I have rectified the finish, it is right up there with the best bats I own, and for the price, this is without a doubt the best value for money together with my BB.  Ryan was brilliant throughout and kept me in the loop, and is clearly a very talented batmaker. I would highly highly recommend him to anyone who is after a new bat. thanks Ryan.

P.S. I added the ayrtek stickers to be in keeping with the rest of my kit.

Likewise, RK stickers are far classier. (no offence Tom, I see your stickers more of an addition to the back of the blade)

Lovely bat though, and if the performance of yours is anything like mine I can agree with that. Mines tops!

Thanks for the honest review Jake. Appreciate it, once again sorry about the finish. I actually spent around an hour finishing this one but it must have got a little wet transporting it from the "shed" home.

Simmy, I'm free Friday if you want to nip round for your commission :D

No worries Ryan, its all good now, and as long as it performs, that is the main thing, and it certainly does, so thanks for that :)

Well twist my nipple-nuts and call me Roger if Ryan isn't one of the most up and coming bat-makers on here!
