Title: Knocking in and oiling a laminated bat

I've bought my first laminated bat and am looking to get some advice from the forum on how to prepare it.

Normally I apply 3 coats (2 light)  of oil on bats before starting knocking in.  But this time I am a not too sure.

I know that oil should not be applied to the splice area as it could damage the strength of the glue.  Does that mean that one should not apply oil to laminated parts of the bat.

Also will knock in for 3 to 4 hours.

Would highly appreciated if you guys share your experience/opinion

I've got a couple and just treated them both as a normal bat. I only ever knock in the edges and toes and a couple of light coats of oil and away I go

I would do the same as regular bat but if you are concerned just apply edge tape before you oil so the edges (laminated area) are covered and no oil gets in there but also they don't lose moisture

On my old Laminate I only oiled the face of the bat and taped the edges moderately heavily.  Ironically the face was the first part of the bat to go before its untimely demise.
