Title: A little something about my hattori
Post by: wilkie113 on April 02, 2013, 09:43:03 PM
This is my hattori. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My hattori is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My hattori, without me, is useless. Without my hattori, I am useless. I must use my hattori true. I must hit straighter than the bowler who is trying to skittle me. I must hit him before he bowls me. I will...
My hattori and I know that what counts in this game is not the balls we bowl, the noise of our willow, or the strokes we make. We know that it is the runs that count. We will hit...
My hattori is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its handle, its edges, its middle and its toe. I will keep my hattori clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...
Before God, I swear this creed. My hattori and I are the defenders of my wicket. We are the masters of our opponent. We are the saviors of the match.
So be it, until victory is mine and there is no runs left to score!

I decided at nets last night, that this is truly the best bat I've owned.
Thought I'd have a little tribute to the little fella

I wanted to put H4L stickers back on it, or none at all! I respect that Matt doesn't send out stickers to people, so I'll leave her blank :)

It's not just some movie quote (although been said in a few movies).

It's the US marine corp creed.

They all have to learn it.

But good implementation none the less. Great read!

Wilkie, don't say something like that in real world though! They'll think you are crazy!

i read a interesting fact about full metal jacket the other day..
the drill sargent in the film wasnt ment to be actually in it.

aparently they hired him to show an actor how it was ment to be done..

the actor couldnt get it right so they just used the real guy

true or not i dont know

ah yeah here we go

when he was cast as tough drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket.[2] Initially he was intended to be only the technical advisor.[2] Kubrick changed his mind after Ermey put together an instructional tape, in which Ermey went on an extended hair-raising drill instructor tirade towards several extras, convincing Kubrick he was the right person for the role

R. Lee Ermy is his name I think.  He was originally hired to be a military advisor.  Think he got to Master Sergeant in the US Marine Corp, so had the whole Drill Sergeant act down to a T.  He did a great series the other year on the history of weapons.  Think it was on the discovery channel.

Off subject, but any of you remember that spoof cop series operation good guys?

It had william scully in it who received a QGM for protecting 1000 refugees in Mammy Yoko hotel, Siera Leon with a handful of soldiers vs an army of 200 rebels.
