Hi guys, here are 2 videos of my bowling action, this video is about 4 weeks old and in that time i realised my run up in the two videos is shoddy and i have done work on shortening them and increasing the run in speed at the action. also I have been working on using my body more in the follow through as i dont really have a knee drive and chest drive. any comments which arent about the run up or follow through would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Karan

The best thing about being able to record yourself on a mobile phone is that you can coach yourself.

By watching how you play you can then understand how to improve.

Personally I think you have a nice action, but there are people far better qualified than me to talk about bowling.

It's a decent enough action, however you don't run through into your action fluidly. The video from RH leg side, you can see that you sort of pause into delivery which is all about your shoulder so having the run up is heavily negated by winding up your shoulder.

okay thanks for that, i have nets tommorow so will work on a few things that have been said here. I have done work with running coaches to help my runup and make it more efficient

I think I'm going to start charging for video coaching the amount I am getting now. Just had a quick look. Firstly when you practice your run up try and think of how an Olympic runner would run. They run with a nice upright position with the chin up and chest out keeping them nice and light on their feet. Arms pumping front to back in a nice rythmical line in the direction you are moving. You will find this will change your running pattern so practice this until you get it off to a patter where you are landing in the same position each time. Your basic action is good but you have what I call a lazy back leg, in other words it isn't driving through the crease towards the target as much as it could. This results in us tending to sling the ball putting undue pressure on the back. It's difficult to see from the two angles but my experience suggests that you will get low and slingy in the action from time to time resulting in bad direction and also losing height in the delivery. Keep practicing a fluent slightly bouncy run up and merge it into your action. See how it goes good luck
