I recently brought a new bat but I am having a nightmare with the new handle!
It is shaped how I like it, round at the top oval at the bottom but the oval is extremely thin to the point it's thinner than the top hand. I have tried thickening up the bottom hand area with zinc oxide tape but due to having to put lots of tape on its losing the shape. I have also tried half a grip on the bottom but that just doesn't work as the shape remains the same but just thicker.
Please share tips/ideas

I've got a bat that is fully oval that I wanted to change the top to round - tried various tapes and grips etc, but couldn't get it right.
In the end I used RTV silicone (bathroom sealant essentially) to build up the handle and shape it how I wanted. I just put masking tape over the binding so I could peel it off if it wasn't right. By using the old wet finger trick I just shaped it and smoothed it to how I wanted it.
Not sure if this would work here, but it worked for me.

Right guys,
Tried a couple of techniques to help this and getting there slowly but now I've hit a snag. I want to thicken the bottom of the handle even more than the initial ovalness... Simple you might say just wrap tape around it. Well when I do this it throws the shape out of sinc....
Thoughts???

Just use a round handle instead haha

take it back and ask them to rehandle it to what you want ;)

use a lollipop stick or strips.of this tape going up the handle to keep the shape.
load of topics on making a round handle oval, follow that.

I'm having handle issues to, I have tried everything
The best two solutions for thickening the handle I found was
1 wrap the handle with strapping tape but don't overlap the tape like a tennis racket. Do it round once, cut and start the next circle
2 put basic grip on, cut it to how high you want the thickening then wrap with tape very tightly

Try putting a three cut strips of aero grip vertically, two of them adjacent to each other and one on top of both to form a pyramid shape. It worked for my Woodstock.

What I have done by accident is oval the top hand towards the outside edge ... It feels so comfy to grip now and any other hand position feels totally wrong
Anyone else do this to ensure the correct top hand grip??

Similar to what I did, best method so far ... Better than using cut grips as they are to pronounced
Did you do it on both sides of the handle?

I measured the thickness of my handle at 1cm intervals and the bottom hand was 12.5 going to 13. At the top it was 12 and slightly oval
On the new mh it was the same bottom hand but 11 at the top and round

Just the back of the handle Garrett. It gets bit bigger for me if I use both sides.

Solitaire bats or the one I refurbished had a triangularish cane insert over which the twine was bound. A bit odd but made the handle oval.
