Anyone had experience with these bats? which one has an extended sweet-spot ? and what are the good and bad points in each bat?
-
I have had a go with each of them.
My suggestion is that you go onto the GM website and use their bat selector and see which one would suit your game the best.
Then choose the one with the stickers you prefer...!! My preference in terms of shape was for the Epic, but all three work well.
If you are buying new, then they will take some time to be real goers, they are pressed for a long term relationship, not a summer holiday fling ;)

They don't make the Luna anymore. It had a low middle but a light pickup thanks to its unique shape, following a similar theme to extreme concaving or the scoops taken out of a Dynadrive. Removing wood either side of the middle reduces weight whilst hopefully maintaining shot power.
It should have been the perfect bat for English conditions but I think it didn't sell too well because it was brown.
The icon has a higher middle and a generally lighter pickup. The epic has a spine, a lower middle (but thanks to the spine the middle extends nicely up and down the bat) and more concaving than the icon.
You've selected 3 very different profiles to choose from. The best way to decide is to go and pick each one of them up and from there you can feel which one will suit you.

My preference would be Epic or Icon.
BUT I also agree that a profile of a bat is a very individual thing. One profile that is absolutely perfect for one person would be rubbish for another!
So go and try them all and see which feels good for you!

808 Luna is on sale for £119 compared to Icon and Epic around £160 , I like bats with lower middle and preferably some meat on the toe ,and a extended sweetspot.(Well who doesnt)
When I watched epic review it seemed like the bat I was looking for but now with these options I'm a bit confused
Not concerned about colours ,I'm going to buy this bat as an investment for the next season

GM website recommended an Apex or Halo, neither of these worked out for me so grabbed an Icon and it's the best bat I've owned and there have been a few!
Plus mine's only a 606 so shows you don't have to splash out on the top models!

The Icon wins the pickup stakes but the middle may be high for some. That said people hit the ball alot higher on the blade than they care to admit.
Luna has a low middle and good pickup but might not be the most powerful stick in the lighter weights.
Not used an Epic personally but I don't think the pickup is great as the middle ends a low way down the blade. I have been told it was an extended middle but others might know more on the subject.

If you want a cover all option then go for a GM Icon+ . Similar price range, excellent pickup and more wood all down the blade. I've used mine on some really low decks and it still does a good job. Only downside might be the 2'11-12 starting weight, however it will pickup much lighter and feel like a 2'9-10.

What's all this talk of the Luna having a nice pick-up? I thought it was rubbish and very bottom heavy!
-
Luna is not there anymore so I'm leaning towards Epic 808 now. Will post images once I got it.

I have an Epic 707 and have been impressed with it so far. It has the biggest shoulders I have seen on a bat and has a nice long middle, while picking up nicely. The response isn't brilliant at the moment after 5 or 6 net sessions, but it seems like they take a while to perform at their best.
-
From picking up in a shop, I would say the Icon generally picks up the best, and the Luna the worst. It depends where you hit the ball, personally, I would go for an Epic as the sweetspot starts low down and extends to around mid-high, which is ideal for me. :)

The icon is a wand

Guys one last question ,
Heard GM takes a bit of time to open up . Is it wise to use Epic 808 in a match after one short net session or am I better off with with my old Kookaburra Rouge 400? ( I think this is grade 4 willow ,Doesn't have a great ping and only used in nets)

If you have smashed your bat with a mallet and knocked it in (ignore the pre knocked in badges) then yes go for it. There is no point in looking at a bat saying "ooo can I use you yet"... Treat it like you would your wife on your wedding night...
or something.

^Ha ha ,Good advice ,Thanks!

Treat it like you would your wife on your wedding night...
But use linseed instead of baby oil, different oil for different types of wood!

I was at the store and I couldn't go for Icon , Edges wasn't big enough for my liking ,Just a personal thing , instead I bought a GM Argon F2 808 , And this one got massive edges ,There were few 606 from the same model but This one pinged better than the others (I think)
Handle is notoriously thin so I had to put 2 extra grips to get it for my liking
