A little shipment of goodies from B&S arrived today. Amongst the always superb bats was an example of a new shape for the flagship Supreme range, made from oversized clefts.
This is a direct answer to some forum members who have expressed concern at the amount of concaving in a normal Supreme. We've also ditched the toe tape for a more pleasing aesthetic.
Check out this weapon. 2'11, picks up lighter, goes like a train and is bloody massive, what more can you ask for £230?

It looks very nice indeed and £230 is a competitive price point.
The point about concaving is valid. I saw one of their bats at Lords recently at it was so concaved you wonder why bother with a spine! The owner did say that he found it 'turned' in his hand if he didn't time it, but apart from that it was a lovely stick.
I'd imagine this being a popular model.
You mentioned that this was made from an over sized cleft, what is the spine height?

The concaving on a normal supreme doesn't bother me at all. Every B&S i've used has been a belter. The spine is much more rounded, arguably making the hitting area 'wider'
It's easier to demonstrate this with a picture, notice the 'hump' area on the toe, which runs all the way up the bat.

The spine height on this new Supreme is 60-65mm but i am pretty clueless at measuring a spine.
-
thats more like it
i have pm'ed you
-
That's a good shot of the toe.
I like the wider spine.
That bat should be very popular, sadly I've got a Tempo and Aldred but who knows about next season!
-
Lovely looking blade! It's difficult to tell from the photos or without measurements, but Im sure they could have created that profile from a standard cleft. I dont understand why, if they're going to spend the extra dosh to get the oversized clefts, why they wouldn't create a higher spined profile. Still, looks lovely and im sure plays beautifully :) Always a huge fan of that GT profile
-
I thought sane as you
Surely if you use an oversize cleft you'd use the extra edge or spine height it gives
-
Lovely stick !! Surely made from a normal cleft.
-
I'm no expert on oversized clefts etc, but this is what i was told. It's a beefy bat regardless of what cleft was used.
-
The new ones look much nicer IMO, might just because of the grip, but I prefer less concaving. :D How do they compare with the previous models out of interest Jake?

The 'older' style is still available, these beefy bats are a sort of experimental run, there won't be that many of them, this year anyway.
I don't know enough about the newer, bigger shape to offer a proper comparison. The pickup is different obviously, the ball rockets off the face like it does on every B&S i've ever come into contact with. It also has a pretty impressive bow.
-
I had a b&s before, it was early 2000 and it looked like a twig but the ball flew. This looks like it could give MH's distinction that I have a good fight

Is it the 2010 one or the newer one with the higher middle that you have Garrett?
Also I noticed that you said the pick up is slightly different. Which would you say is better Jake? Also, do you get to ask them to make the Supremes in any profile you want? Maybe you could run a poll and see what shapes interest people most, and give them 3 profile options. :) I won't be surprised if there is no change though, marvelous looking bats. :D
-
I have both shapes, 2010 version is a lot better than the 2012. More meat on the spine as the toe is very thin
There are pics of both bats on the forum somewhere

Ah right, I prefer a slightly thicker toe, (I'm not the best of batsman) but a lower middle. I wouldn't know how to choose! I hear the 2010 shape was more susceptible to toe damage though because of this, and that's why they changed it.

An 'older' style Supreme probably suits you best then.

It will be interesting to see how quickly these bats sell and if any forum owners have bought one to have a good review as the season goes on.
-

The bat shape came about originally after a prominent Indian test player (not Sachin) had a few bats made by B&S when India last toured SA. This was the shape he asked for. So I guess there's no real surprise that the shape is similar to a GT. I can't stop picking it up, might have it myself :)

Don't be too rough with her!!! :)
-
This beauty has sold and is on it's way to Jersey.
If anyone else is considering a new shape Supreme, please get in contact as there are limited numbers available, weights start at 2'10.
-
Nice looking bat and a clever move to have an experimental shape.
-
Received the bat today, it is superb and picks up lighter than my same weight mh new shape distinction. Response tapping a ball is great too.
Well worth the cash, love this bat.
-
Glad to hear you are pleased with it mate, she is indeed a beautiful blade, look after her for me :)

Ha ha, you're telling that to a bloke who wears a batting helmet when he's, erm, well, when he's not batting...

2 more BIG Supremes arrived today.
The one with the spiral grip weighs 2'11, the other one weighs 2'13 and is absolutely massive.
As many of you are now aware, the ping on these bats is sensational.

Hopefully GarretJ's upcoming review of his new weapon will sway a few of you into choosing B&S as your next bat.

The 2'11 bat has sold.
Is anyone in the market for a brute? The 2'13 is a howitzer!
-
Looks amazing, what is the pickup like on the 2.13 does it feel lighter ?
-
I picked it up earlier and thought I had sold the wrong one to the customer who bought the 2'11. Was a tense minute or so while I scrabbled about for the scales!
-
these bats do pick up well, Jake
My dad picked up my BS yesterday which was originally 2 11 (now has a thickended handle and two grips so over 3lb) and cliamed it was lighter than a 1 grip 2lb 8 kookaburra rogue 850 which has no meat on it
i'll put a review when i finally use it properly in a match but no one would be disappointed with these bats.

Hello chaps, we have taken delivery of a few belting new shape Supremes. The shape has changed slightly to accommodate the lower weights, the 2'9 bat especially is something special!
Anyway, lets get stuck in with some pictures.
