Asics and Adidas are the go to shoes.
I think GN shoes have been mentioned as good fits.

Thanks,am trying to keep the £££'s down as spent a fair whack over past few weeks and playing significantly less this year!?
Never seen those Adidas Howzat before....anyone come across them??!!
-
A Mate of mine has them, seem a really comfy fit, and mainy a boot for the batting allrounder, but all in all I would say get the Adidas, they are a great boot !! Hope this helped

Thanks, comfy is what I am after (amongst other things!!)

I think with shoes especially it's worth spending a little bit more to make sure you get the right fit, and something that's comfy for you. The only way you can do that is try a load on, something thats comfy for one may not be comfy for another

I know.....but my choices are limited by a chronic lack of places that sell cricket stuff locally!!
And my wish to keep the cost down.....will probably only use them for this season as hoping to play more next year!! :D

What size are you?

I've posted this before as I bought some sauces strike rates for £35 from Nixon. They don't have strike rates in your size but do have gel advance 2.

So,having followed this up....I can get a pair of Asics Gel 335 for £33 incl postage or Gel Advance 2 for £38 incl postage....question is,which has a wider fit...anyone know?,
Thanks...
-
I have a pair of 335's and they are quite wide mate, i haven't got any of the other ones but by looks they look a lot thinner.
-
That is a top price for the adidas boots that nic compton uses among others. I'd go for them
-
Dammit - why are there never any Asics rubber soles at cheap prices (or Puma for that?)

Why not buy the spikes and replace with the rubber/plastic cleats?!

Bruce, I have some cheap Puma rubbers in size 9 if that's any good for you?
-
Defiantly the Adidas all day long, I have just bought exactly the same pair but in blue from aus and they are the best looking boots in the mark it think and for such a great price to, they are also, well I'd say a wide fit as well. All in all you can't really go wrong with the Adidas mate

You cant go wrong with any of them. To be honest I really like the Addidas Spikes currently, but I had a pair of Gel Advance 2's and once youve worn them in for a couple of weeks youll have a great spike.

Thanks Ciaran....did you have any issues with rubbing/blisters on the heel (have seen this mentioned a few times!!)??
Also, what was the fit like across the front, need it to be fairly wide!
Thanks

I'd go with Asics everytime, I am on my 6th or 7th pair now. I suffer from wide feet and have never had a problem.

A good choice I'd say. In fact it's about time I got another pair of gel strike rates, which are by far the most comfortable cricket shoes I've ever had.

Thanks for that, i'll give them a shout as at that price they are an absolute bargain!
-
Let me know how you get on!
-
Does anyone know if you can you take the spikes out of either the Gel Strike Rates or the Gel Advance 2's and use them simply as rubbers - or can you use the rubber / plastic cleats on astro turf nets?
-
The strike rates I have come with a set of blanks, you just take out the spikes and use a screwdriver to put the blanks in. It's a bit of a pain if you have unto do it when you arrive at a game but its not too bad. I've used them for indoor nets and on astro wickets once the blanks are in.
-
I took my spikes out of my strike rates and left the holes open.
I net indoors so don't need to put blanks in.
They are great.
-
They're the little tiny studs aren't they Matt - they're removable then?
-
Bruce - I have Gel Advance 2 and you can put either spikes or indoor rubbers in mate
-
Yep - it was more the Strike Rates I was interested in.
-
Oh right, sorry mate
