Does anyone know what brand of pads these are. They remind me of pumas but I don't think they are. They look interesting and lightweight anyway
-
They look a bit cack to me
-
They look awful in my opinion.
-
'Different' is one way to put it. I suppose if they are light and provide protection the looks shouldn't matter too much. They look really thin and moulded to his legs so must be good for running in.
-
look like a cross between puma aero and kook keeping pads
-
Are they not Puma's with a set of gold CLADS or similar covering them?
-
Ah, looks like they are made up of just card boards colored in gold ;) If you are looking for light weight pads then SS test light is a good set of pads. Also any pads made up specially for test cricket would be good and light weight.

Think I will stick with my vantage pads ;)

Hi Lads
Im new to the forum so apologies if this post is in the wrong place.
A lot is spoken about the origin of cricket bats i.e are they from the UK or India / Pakistan etc. but where are softs produced? Various companies within the UK sell pads and gloves but where are they actually manufactured?
Im guessing India?
-
All pads and gloves are made in India and Pakistan as far as i know.
-
Ah i see,
So I'm presuming the top brands (GM etc.) all use the same supplier?
Only reason I ask is because i have just watched a really interesting video on Youtube looking into the booming market in India and it showed Slazenger pads being made in a factory there.
-
Slazenger use FC Sondhi.
SG is probably the biggest supplier to major brands. There are a number of factories though. Sareen Sports, Robinsons, Champ and many more. I'm sure i've missed some big names there.
Procricket is the best person to ask.

Thanks for the reply!!
So am i right in assuming that their bats are produced by these companies too?

Some brands have Asian made bats, some don't, many split their manufacture with some higher end models made in the UK and the rest made in Asia, Puma definitely do this.
GM make all their English Willow bats sold in the UK, Aus/NZ and SA markets (maybe more) in England. They license the manufacture of their Kashmir and some English Willow models intended for the Asian market out to an Indian manufacturer.
Gray Nicolls have a factory in the UK, some bats are made here, some are made in India. All Kookaburra bats are made in India as far as i know. Slazenger make a very small number of bats in England, the rest is in India.

I am far from an expert despite working in the industry part time for 5 years and every day for the past 2 years, there is always more to learn.

Agree with Jake,
I have the older version of Newbery SPS Wk gloves. I bought them to check the difference in quality but it had a made in India label inside.
Although I bought a Gm Paul Nixon Original WK gloves from India( Reputed dealer) but its quality was totally different from the UK version. Although not that happy with the Newbery's also I think it will take more time to break in.
I think the debate is very old but I think origin doesn't matter but the demand and the price offered for the work makes for the difference in quality.

I initially thought that, but to me they look too thin and there are subtle differences in the design of these and the various puma fxt's that i've seen
