Title: First sponsored player
Post by: Aldred Cricket Bats on April 20, 2013, 07:31:20 AM
Exciting times here as we have set on our first county player. Tom Jewel at Surrey CCC. He received his kit yesterday and has had a hit and seems a very happy man indeed. We will update you with more pics and reactions from Tom as soon as he has time to get some back to us. Here's what we sent down.

My apprentice is still taking the excitement very much in her stride though

He played over here in Newcastle Australia for Cardiff-Boolaroo this season.

Didn't have an overly impressive season here to be honest... Did score 1 century though

Yep only two bats. I am old school am afraid all players felt privileged to have a sponsor when I was playing even the seasoned pros it seems now that people think its a god given right to have a sponsor now days and have cupboards full of kit. Why do you think the big companies have to charge so much to the public. I still have a couple of bats I had from 15 years ago and still cherish them. Just call me Scrooge  :)

Specs. Well always nice making for the pro lads as they are not generally too fussy as long as they ping. These were 2-9 nice pick up oval handle. Large men's pads and large men's gloves. Aldred stretton thigh pads. All this kit is just the same as you guys get. Everything we have made protection wise is top of the tree and bats just the same nothing different.
Will post some bag pics too haven't had chance yet been too busy. They have sold well and am very pleased with them. Better than I imagined too which is a bonus.

Great move Paul - and TBH kit like that should be appreciated. Really know where you are coming from on that. It is a privilege, not a right.

Hi Paul, congrats on the signing! he is a good player, Is there a reason you sent him a supreme rather than a vintage? as the vintage are your top top of the range arent they?

Just want to show people the way we work. What the pros get is exactly what you guys get not something different to what they send out to the shops. The vintage are a beautiful piece of wood the ultimate in everything you could ask for a in a bat but with the looks of the perfect cleft, for the person who wants the lot. Pros are bothered first and foremost about performance. This is what the supreme range is about, performance.
