Title: Need tips on handle replacement
Post by: i12breakfree on April 21, 2013, 08:21:56 PM
One of my friends bat's handle shaking from middle. The splice and the V area is fine and perfect
I have to remove the grip/twine to check but if I got to put a new handle what needs to be done
How to remove the old handle
Cut from the splice using a professional cutter
or ??

Can't find it but basically got a mate to help me (he is decent with this kind of stuff)...

Cut out he handle using a saw (we used a circular saw which wasn't ideal but it did the job)
Put in the new handle, take it out and plane if need be so it fits well (make sure you are not forcing the handle too much or you will split the bat)...once you are sure about the fit apply good amount of glue and fit the handle...

give her 24 odd hours to dry...once dry I just used a handle plane to make the handle flush with the back and front...didn't use twine but hockey tape instead and it was fine...

Hopefully we don't cut it too much

Cool, just cut along the splice line...also make sure you use a good blade as the blade on the circular saw as all black trying to cut the cane handle/rubber inserts etc...
